i tried Signgo, its nice.

COREL DRAW: really nice. get no respect from certain ppl cuz it dotn cost 4 grand. It can do anything. I mean anything.. Then add in cocut pro and you are in business. I tried most sign proggies out there, and i always go back to corel.
I liked sign lab, but did way to much for my needs. Tried flexi it was good too but still way to much for my needs. Got design art pro. an adewuate proggie. But alwasy went back to corel/ cocut pro 9.
luv it every time

Hiya Lee,
Almost any software will work for designing. We use Corel Draw & Adobe Photoshop. However, It really depends on what files your printer can output and wether or not you'll need a rip.
My real concern with your question is the market you plan on persuing. If my memory serves me well, those type of grocery store signs were normally screen printed by the hundreds and dirt cheap. So, unless you know something I don't, ink jet printing can not compete on price or quality. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.
Havin' fun,
Checkers

if its the type i think...they are short life, window signs ...see lot of liquior stores have em.
JACK DANIALS $10.99, and are on plain or colored paper. before computers these were all done by hand, and it was a money maker if you was quick!!
black poster paint, #22 quill and no more then 3-5 minutes in time paintin em. still think you will be hard pressed to match prices with a guy that can do these with a brush, as compared to your investment in a printer and cost of inks.most stores have a kit you buy with 3-4 size ink applicators and ink and they find the guy in the store who can write big and let him make these.

Two words... Corel Draw, if you are doing all the design work yourself. If you plan on being able to recieve artwork from clients, then you're going to need the Adobe programs (Illustrator and Photoshop) as most of the "graphic artists" you will run across work in these environments. A copy of Quark couldn't hurt either.

I'm a little concerned / confused by your statements here, are you to use the Colorspan printer for these "low end paper store signs"? If so, which printer are you using and what media?

The company I work for used to run a Colorspan DM6000, we threw the thing out, it was a bloody nightmare. If you are using one of thier multi color printers, there is no way on this earth to print low end signage cost effectively. The colorspan printers have a propriatary ink and media system (though you can stuff other media through it) that is very pricey and not at all suitable for fast low end work.

Just my buck and a quarter.

like i said....32x44 green,orange,or red paper:
$.50 tempra paint(1 oz mixed in water)$.30. 3-5 min of your time(at $30 an hour).50 a min so a $1.50 to $2.50. now you got lest say $2.30 in the sign and you only gona get $5-10(depending on who its for) i called kinkos one day for a blk on white paper print 22x30 and they wanted $8.95 sq.ft. its 4.50 sq.ft. so it comes out to $40.27,
dont think their gona pay that for paper signs!!!!!
