.......it,or any wet application does not work on a latex bkgd !!...i don't do much vinyl, but a client asked me to apply a name to two sides of a smooth latex painted base structure of a monument sign i made last year..i cleaned the area with warm water and scrub brush, wiped it dry, center hinged my copy, pulled and cut off backing on first half......, but before laying the piece on the panel, i gave it a light spritz of radiptac ll (a sample i had gotten in mail).....thinking it would improve the bond.......but after squeegeeing, i could see it didn't stick, so i left it alone after taping the transfer tape so it wouldn't move around, and went to the other half.......removed backing, applied dry, squeegeed, and it stuck like glue.....went to other side of base structure and applied vinyl dry....stuck like glue......went to store for something, came back 30 minutes later, squeegeed and attempted to remove tranfer tape......vinyl still wasn't stuck .......i guess i'll go back tomorrow and see what's up.......vance

water will also make vinyl not stick to latex. I have removed it dried the latex & squeegeed off all moisture from adhesive side of vinyl & salvaged the vinyl that way. Still tookm some coaxing to make it stick enough to allow the transfer tape to come off.

Roger is absolutely right here....I tried the wet app (soap and water) on a latex painted sign years ago...and had the same unsatisfactory results. That is one material you want to go "dry" with.

But it is certainly not the fault of Roger's product. [Big Grin]

What type of latex are you using?
Are you using cast vinyl?
I have put cast vinyl over GLOSS DTM acrylic latex WET(soapy water) several times and it's still hangin' on. I havent tried any Rapid Tac on it yet though.(although I now use it for normal application)

I took no disrespect Vance.

Some "latex" is very porus, therfore the "wet" fluid actually soaks in to the finish, and you can't get it back out. [Frown]

Some latex (gloss) is skined enough to prevent liquid penitration.

Oh well. [Confused]

I too have done a "I don't know what kind of paint it is" board somebody brought me and it had paint that would NEVER dry on it. Ever seen anything like that. Anyways all the vinyl started peeling off after about two weeks, it all had a layer of paint on it but it didn't pull the paint off of the board. Weird stuff. Now I won't do "I have my own board stuff AT ALL". I use only stuff I know where it came from. Same women also brought me homemade banners made out of those cheap blue poly tarps to letter. VInyl doesn't stick to it either. Darn people are cheap scades nowadays!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all!
Maybe I missed it, or maybe it was supposed to be funny, and I just don't know that.... on Scooter's post the other day about RT a 'wet squeegee' was mentioned.
Is there such a thing and if so, what is it?

Not really something special Pat, just that I had the "squeegee manuf. formulate what I thought to be the best ply-ability for wet applications of sign vinyl.

And they are relativly inexpencive ! [Smile]
