Here in Sweden in the winter we have extremes of temperature, chemicals on vehicle and brush or pressure washing. I have bought in Edge prints that were laminated before. Anybody laminating? and if so what type of machine do you use, assuming you don't use a larger one on Encad or like printers. Is there a smaller industrial laminator at a good price that would work well with the Edge?

thanks

Hello, Henry!

Long-time-no-parlez-vous (or whatever it is you people do in Sweden) [Wink]

For your typical signage applications - regardless of the extreme shifts in weather you might get (can't be any worse than here in Canada)...you probably don't need to worry about overlaminating EDGE prints. However, if you can charge more for it, it certainly can't hurt.

Gerber do offer enhanced protection in the form of abrasion guard (clear and matte clear foil cartridges - protect printed graphics from wear and tear in applications that might involve moderate abrasion...ie from washing/scrubbing) and GerberGuard/GerberGuard UV overlaminates. These are cold-laminate (pressure sensitive adhesive) that can be applied by hand quite easily (at least for smaller jobs).

If you want to look at laminators, SEAL are a great choice. I would recommend hot-roll (top and bottom) if you plan to do more than laminate EDGE prints only. P/S adhesives flow much better with a bit of heat and laminates with heat activated adhesives are typically far less expensive.

I won't give you a link to Gerber's website until they become a Letterville merchant, but you will probably find some good info on the subject here...
