Hi there,

I just got my Edge, and have my old Sprint and S 750 out of retirement, except they are kicking up a fuss right now, communication error, the whole time.

I was wondering if anybody is cutting Edge prints with a Summa cutter fitted with OPOS. Opos requires 4 reg marks to read from, you can produce these in the Omega software....its the next step I am unsure of. I have Signlab E6 and Signlab supports, the Summa T series with OPOS, so I think technically it should work by exporting a job to signlab its just the bit with the reg marks I am unsure of....any help would be greatly appreciated. The Summa is 10 times faster than the old Sprint

Its only a matter of getting the exact size reg mark at the exact spot on the print and in your cutting software. I have a Durachrome and apply the marks through CoCut and then cut away, its so easy it hurts. One time I forgot to put on the marks and actually cut the squares fom black vinyl and applid by hand with some very careful measurments, took forever but save a ton of money in a wasted print.

I dont know how Signlab works with the OPOS but when I use CoCut I actually erase the marks when I go back in to cut and then reapply them, otherwise they are just a couple of black square to the software and not reg marks. If you can set them in Sign lab, export to print in whatever the Edge needs and then cut em, it should work...

Hello Henry,

Although there is no fully automated way of creating the OPOS markers suitable to the Summasign plotters, the necessary markers can be easily created in Signlab such that the OPOS system will function.
Here's how to do it:
1. - If you are not familiar with what an OPOS pattern must look like, refer to the plotter's users guide/manual. In there will be a specification for setting up the OPOS markers
2. - In Signlab, go into the Plotter Setup dialog box and make sure you have the "SummaSign (w/OPOS)" driver installed (if you don't, install it now)
3. - Once the correct driver is installed, select Move Control from the Cut menu. When the Move Control dialog box appears, enter the necessary X and Y size and offset settings for the OPOS markers (these settings will be sent by Signlab's driver to the plotter so the plotter will know what pattern to expect).
4. - Create a CDL file which contains the specified mark pattern then save that file (so that you don't have to keep recreating the OPOS marker file).
5. - When you need the OPOS markings on a design, simply Import and MERGE the file which contains those marks into the design file (Select "Import" NOT "Open" from the File menu. In the Import dialog box there will be a merge option; make sure it is on).

I hope you find the above info helpful.
Best Regards,
Mark Huggett
