What type of track or product would be best to used attached to MDO or lusterboard in a manner that would allow signs to slide in and out easily for changes? The only thing I can think of is the stuff used for individual changeable lettering. Would that allow a 1/8" thick piece of acrylic to slide in?

Thanks.

Yes Amy that would allow the 1/8" panels to slide in,....it can be bought in 8' lengths here at one of my local suppliers in any of 3 types, the top track,...a middle track to go between two lines of copy,...and a bottom track.

Amy - mirror track, sometimes called J-track from a local supply house. There is also a carpet version that you might be able to make work. McMaster Carr has a variety in their big catalog. Vic G

Hello Amy. There is also a product used for end-capping on panelboard. It resembles the tracking for mirrors, is made of plastic and only costs about $2 Canadian (that's like 3 cents american...lol) for an 8 foot length. Any lumberyard or home improvement centre should have it.

Hi Amy,

Just a heads-up. [Smile]

If you use a plastic rail material, drill oversize holes in the plastic rail for mounting. And after you tighten down the screws for holding the rail to the panel, back them off a smidgen.

This will allow the panel (if its wood) to move during weather changes and it wont crack your rails.

Good luck,
Joe

Hi Amy,
Another option is an aluminum extrusion, more durable than plastic. One of my sign supply catalogs lists an "F" extrusion that has a groove that's perfect for a 3/16" plastc insert. You can miter the corners also as for a picture frame.
