Spent some time at the recent ISA regional sign show in Baltimore (BWI airport). Got to say hello to a few Letterville folks, some current Letterville merchants, and hopefully a future merchant or two as well (time will tell).

Was able to speak at length with a Roland employee (didn’t ask if it was OK to mention name) about the ColorCamm Pro 600. I have often felt that the CC and Edge, although both thermal printers, serve different markets. Unfortunately, a lot of people, reps and end users, like to lump them together for comparisons. I believe this is a huge disservice to both machines and confuses the uneducated market place. After conversing with the Roland person, I am more convinced of this then ever before. Time well spent to learn more about this capable machine. -

Gerber was well represented with four distributors in attendance. For those that don’t have the luxury of having multiple distributors for a particular vendor serving your area, you really are missing quite an experience. Everyone represents the same item but that’s about where the similarities end. One can get quite an education by listening to each represent the same piece of equipment and how they go about hawking it. What’s a prime product for one is nothing more then filler for another. Pricing strategies very amongst all; some have the mindset of getting the sale at any cost while their neighbor preaches “package” value in their price. Rather comical at times. Remember, there’s a difference in life between those that know what their doing and those that think they know what their doing! -

Attended an enRoute3 demo at Skarie Inc. the day before the show started. Didn’t get into to many details at the time, but looks like a nice product for what was demonstrated. Hope to spend some time in the demo in the near future. Also got to look over and ask questions about MuliCam routers. For anyone that has one, or looked at them at trade shows, they are beefy! The one I looked over was from the MG series. Very nice units! Anybody in this area wanting to get into a CNC machine, and the MultiCam is an option, give Jeff a call at Skarie; great and knowledgeable guy.

Good trip! Well worth the time.
