OK, jeeesh.....just shoot me. hahaha. I've got a palette I've used for a long time for my vinyl. It wlways worked fine with my previous corels. Now I've got ten. I can use the palette, but I have to open it every time I start corel. When I shut down, It goes away! I've made sure I'm checking the "save settings" box or whatever in the customize section under documents. I've tried putting the palette in the custom palettes folder, the default palettes folder etc. I've saved it, done "save as", Ive checked the default mark when I've had it open. Ive done virtually everything I can think of. what the heck am I missing here. Just when I think I'm really getting good at this computer &*%^ something else rears its ugly head. hahahaha. It's not that its a huge deal, but man it aggrivates the heck out of a guy, ya know ..........cya, thanks.

Dave..I use Window>ColorPalettes>open palette and then click on the custom palette that I want to open and it appears as a floating object. I then drag it to the edge of the main window tyo "dock" it. From then on it will be there when you open Corel.

man you're fast, I tried that though and it doesn't stay there.....bummer. I wonder if i have something else going on. The factory ones stay there, but my custom ones won't. I even tried making a new one based on the old one to no avail. I'm lost now.

Dave...I don't know why you can't get the palette to stick other than suggesting that you check a couple of things.
Have you installed both service packs? You should be at version 10.427
Another other is...where are the custom palettes located? They should be under Corel\Graphics10\Custom\Palettes. But not in either of the two sub directories (CMYK or RGB).
Fianlly, and I wouldn't think this would have any effect, is the color management set to "default settings"?
Other than those three possibilities I haven't a clue.

the only thing i can add to what dave has said is after any change to your screen placement don't forget to go back to tools\options\documents and check 'save options as defaults for new documents' thats after EVERY change, cause settings sumtimes wont stick otherwise!
cheers gail

OH!! After seeing Gail's post..I just remembered..by default, in tools\options\document there are 2 options that are not checked..can't remember which they are..make sure EVERY option has a check mark beside it THEN hit save for new documents. Hope that is the simple solution!

OK. I've installed both service packs. 1 and 2, in that order. (hope thats right). I've done everything humanly possible. I can get the default cmyk palette to stay there, but any other palette, including custom ones will not. I always check the "save" box and all boxes below it on the documents tab in the options section. I have always clicked on the menu that is actually on the palette, and checked "set as default". I've put copies of my palette in different folders, such as corel 10/programs/data, and in the custom folder. I've tried the default color management. I've tried the "no" color management. yada yada yada...hahahahahaha. Like I said. just shoot me. I guess the only thing left to do would be to make a custom palette, based on the default cmyk palette, and then change the default cmyk palette to be my vinyl palette. arrgh. by the way, under: tools/options, or tools/customize. Am I stupid, or aren't these the exact same thing, the only difference being when you go to tools/customize it automatically takes you to the custimize tab in the menu. Kinda redundant if ya ask me, but thats just my 2 cents worth
