I normally like to take a little extra time off around the holidays but with Christmas and New Years being on a Monday I'm a bit perplexed as to what I can get away with, without upsetting the customers. I'm not super busy nor am I dead slow, but the time off sure would be nice !

We are the same way as far as how much we have to do right now. The cold weather has slowed use down more than we are use to. So On days like the friday before and the morning after we come in a little later than normal and work on a few things and leave an hour or so early. That way we are here through lunch time and things taper off late in the afternoon. The main thing we try to do is not put a lot of deadlines close to the holiday weekends, it never fails we end up spending more time at work than with our loved ones, if we don't make a point to do this.. Happy Holidays.

I'm usually slow this time of year.
We had a fire at our rental property, so I'm dealing with the insurance stuff and the contractors. I will be doing part of the renovation as well.
My tenant put a hot tub on a old wooden gazebo without my permission and it burnt down the gazebo, hottub and a bunch of trees. Caught part of the house on fire, went into the attic. About $20,000 in damage.

Merry Christmas!

Don't want to upset my customers???
I'm sorry BUT my customers don't run my business or life! The recent bad check of a sizeable amount upset ME a whole lot more than any of my customers.
Regardless.Wednesday 12/19 I will be leaving for Miami Florida for a well deserved vacation/family holiday.
Merry Christmas to all

Through my back out today while hunched over a sandblasted sign, painting in our under-heated shop garage. (only around 10 degrees here today, and that's without the wind chill factor). Because of the heavy snows, behind a good 5 days on over $7000.00 worth of projects, 2 of the larger ones to be installed by Friday. Came home "early" (left shop at 5pm) because my back was killing me. Was supposed to help out at a charity dinner event, but bowed out. Took 2 Aleve and got out the heating pad. Tomorrow, I have 2 signs to complete and many quotes ahead of me. Just another "holiday" week!

I wanted to be slow, so I raised my prices and cut my scheduled hours in half while making the same money.

I call it a well deserved year-end bonus!

Yesterday I called ALL of my regular clientelle. I asked them if all their needs were taken care of until the start of the New Year, because I was debating on taking between xmas and new years off work to be with family. Or if they needed something before xmas, I'd scramble this week to get it done for them.

They ALL TOLD me to go for it, that they would wait if something came up! Two put in orders for january and one that wasn't active for a long time requested a quote on a project.

So, as it stands, I'm scrambling this week in hopes of having next week off. I miss my little boy soooo much. Daddy will probably be working. I can't wait for some downtime to stay in our jammies all day, eat all day long, putter around outside, watch new xmas videos, basically do nothing important which would be the most important. Fa lalalala lala la LA!

Planning on spending a little time off this year, have put everything on hold after getting out the last few jobs this week. Will spend Christmas week through New Years 'tinkering' and working on some of my own projects that have been put off all year.

Merry Ho Ho to all and to all a good night!

I'm still a bit behind so I'm still going full bore. I would like to take a bit of time off but I need to tinker with the new shop on weekends. Had to turn down my longest running customer. A week was too long to wait for a 12' banner. When he said he needed it now he wasn't kidding. Their business has been shrinking over the years. I think I know why.
