I bet there are some you use daily and some that are collecting dust on the shelf.
So far I have been working with my Corel discs and buying individual art from the Roland website, but it is not enough. What annoys me with most other clipart I have found is the "comic" character to it, it looks like something my ten year old could draw and is useless for most signage. I don't want to throw money out the window by buying something that isn't worth it.
Most of you have quite a collection, I gather,
so which one's are you actually using the most?
I live in a rural area, so horses, cattle, farming and hunting are top themes. Most folks drive trucks here, so some of those designs would be helpful for me too. I am aware of the Letterville merchants and willing to support them, but I still want to know your top choices
and suggestions.

Lotti, I have been using IMSI 101,000 clipart collection for quite a while. It was very cheap to buy and some images require a bit of cleaning up but for the money it suits me. It is a 9 CD collection of which only 1 or 2 are needed. I think it is worth checking out. [Wink]

Hey Lotti!

We have Beeline Vol. 1 and 2, The Mega collection from Vector, and an older version of Art Explosion. We also subscribe to Art Today.

We get by very well with these.

Have a great one!

Lotti, over the years we have had good luck with the Clickart Series and another book Holy Cow! which now appears to be out of print. Freys was selling the Clickart 300,000 for about $30 a few weeks ago, it looked like some kind of clearance sale.

For your work, you might like our disc, created by Jack Wills. You can see all the pages at our website www.anchorblanks.com , clipart button

this link will take you directly there
http://anchorblanks@www.anchorblanks.com/Sign%20Shoppe/images/color%20cover.jpg

You can buy online. If you are not comfortable with that we can take your order by email or fax and process your credit card the old fashioned way. Vic G

It seems a bit rediculous to call Mike Jackson's and the Butler Gold CDs "CLIPART". But, call them what you will, they're the absolute BEST on the market. I use them for almost every sign I do, and, at the least, I get "ideas" from fingering through their catalogue. REAL $$$$-MAKERS!

Vector Classic, Vector Designer, the Mega Collection, Signlab's clipart, Corel Gallery and Gallery Magic, some of the IMSI stuff, Digital Auto Library.

Clipart is sorta like money-- you can never have enough.

Hi Felix and Bob,
Thanks for giving me the plug here! I'm not so sure I would call our collections "clip art" either, but more of design enhancers and building blocks. In many cases, you just select a panel, add some text and make money quickly. I see a lot of our designs and elements used in very creative ways, too.

We are a recent new "merchant" here, as a result of the new Broadway Collection of Panels and Ornaments CD. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit the site and download the three Sample Images.

Thanks again,
Mike Jackson

I use CorelDreaw 9's stuff rarely but I mainly use The Vector Art Mega Collection but it is limited as in you don't want every sign to have the same clip-art and there is usually only one or two decent images for each category but I have really found that Art Explosion 600,000 has more useful clip-art than the normal shop would ever nedd and it is very well organized and categorized in a 12000 page plus catalog all for $75 or so from compusa. It hasent failed me yet. The vector stuff is really high quality also. May need just a little tinkering to be really easy to weed and cut.

Very helpful answers from everyone, thanks guys.
Mike I'll be looking at your designs, very nice from what I've seen so far.
Couple other questions:
Does the Vector Art Mega Collection contain all the images that can be bought individually or more?
Is the Butler Gold CD the one you get with the Signgold starter kit?
Is there other sites than Roland where you can buy individual vector art?
Joe, I have Print Artist and use it occasionally
for certain things. How do you cut from it?

Lotti, The Mega Collection has a lot more images than are available individually on the website. That is, unless things have changed since the last time I checked. [Smile]

You can't go wrong getting the Mega Art collection it is usually only $199 now and the stuff on it is 100% instantly cuttable. Just becomes limited for specific
trade signs like say mechanics sign or resteraunts after a while but for the flourishes, borders and sign elements it is invaluable. I'll even chop up stuff and modify it a little and it is easy to do with the Vector Art. Oh also, the Roland Vector art online is taken from their 6 CD rom collection, the Mega Collection Set has all of the contents the website does plus over a 1000 more since it is based on having an additional 7th volume.

Hi folks,

The Roland DGA download site for individual Vector Art images is in the process of being upgraded to perfectly match the Vector Art Mega Collection (6538 images) CD-ROM and 276 page catalog. It is true that the Vector Art CD includes more than a thousand new images that are not yet available as individual downloads, but they will all be posted and available soon. The manufacturers suggested retail price is $299, but various dealers have been doing sales and special promotions, so be sure to shop around for the best price at the time.

Three new Vector Art CD's will soon be released for the auto graphics market with a lot of "tribal" style and other graphics by Steve Kafka, Bob Bond, Acey Sterling and others. Also, The Vector Art Mega Collection II is in development and will be released in about a year.

Best regards to all,

Andrew Holmes

Art Explosion 600,000 = $75, divided by 3 = $25 so Art Exposion 600,000 gives you 200,000 for $25......better deal!

Hi there,

I have Mike jacksons 1,2 & 3, I have Butler Gold 1,& 2, Vector 1 & 2, Beeline 1 & 2, Aurora Graphics Vol 1-5, Designers café, Sign DNA, and The painted word, Jerry Mathels 1500 friut box labels CD, and loads of books.

I also buy small art books from Tattoo-art at www.tattoo-art.com, you can have lots of fun scanning in cleaning and changing to suit cars and trucks or whatever, its J.D Crowe designs, it says on their books for tattoing, airbrushing, engraving, autopainting, and other creative trades,

I have tribal vol 1-4, Skulls and some Indian art books, its nice to go out and find stuff that not every other shop is using.

I response to Gilead's recent post, We are pleased to have his unique work as well as the original work of 53 other artists who are under contract with Vector Art and receive quarterly royalty payments from Vector Art sales.

The Vector Art art department is always looking for new material for future publications, and, if other artists who see or hear about this post would like to submit artwork for consideration (hand drawn or electronic), please contact us.

As someone recently mentioned on this thread, no sign company can really have too much clip art, and we intend to keep a steady flow of high quality material into the world wide pipe line, for years to come.

So then, although it is not a get rich quick plan, some of our artists who have multiple topics in the Vector Art Mega Collection will make a few extra thousand dollars this year, and will also have the artistic satisfaction of seeing their work used on signs and vehicles all over the world.
