Hi Jake,

If you do a search, I think you will find this subject has been discussed in several threads, but to answer your question: If you are serious about sandblasting wood signs you need something that will run about a 1/4" blast nozzle. That takes somewhere around a 105 cfm construction type air compressor similar to what you would use to run a jackhammer.

Jake,

Whatever size you think you need, get the next size larger. Don't skimp on CFM's to save money.

Actually, Tim's my older half-brother. Can you see the resemblance?

We just got a 7.5 HP Two-Stage 80 gallon at Home Depot. It runs 27.5 cfm at 90 PSI (I think). It works just fine for HDU signs. I haven't tried any wood signs yet.

I should also mention that you will need a decent sized pressure pot. We have a 80-90 lb. capacity purchased from www.sanblast.com
