I am having trouble imported scanned files into FlexiSign Pro 5.7v1.
They show in the design stage but don't appear in the "production manager"
screen - nor will they cut.
I know this is something simple that I am missing. Please help!
Thanks. TJ

You have to trace a bitmap & clean it up to cut. Bitmaps are not cuttable. Also 5.7 will not import latest file formats.

Hi Tim,
Welcome to Letterville, you will find that no matter what question you have someone here will have the answer. I remember the good old days, when flexi5.7 was the latest version, now its all screwed up. Anyway, you need to auto trace, which would be the little "z" key in your menu, play with the controls until you get the cleanest scan. If you need any more help email me, I have been using flexi for 8 years.

Tim, I use both the "old" & newest version of Flexi. I agree that the older version isn't perfect, but it's still a workhorse. I don't know what you're scanning, but I can tell you how I use it.
I scan mostly "B & W" artwork that I create by hand for my "fonts & graphics" that we produce.
First I create the b&w artwork as clean as possible.
Next I "scan & trace" it @ no higher than 150 dpi.
Bring it into the drawing area, remove the original copy (it sits over the scanned copy)& delete it.
Now I clean up all the noise(the little pieces that you don't need).
Last I remove all the unwanted pts.,clean all the straights & curves, & compound the image.
Last I save as a "Flexi" file! Do not try and save it as an "Ai" file, it will create a double copy and really corrupt the file.
I'm sure there are easier ways of doing this,& I welcome any other ideas. If you need the file to work in Adobe, you'll need to scan it in Adobe or upgrade to the latest "Flexi", they fixed this problem.
I hope this helps, if not try www.signforums.com, they have a "Flexi" help link>

The easiest and, I think, the best way, is to scan(direct, not twain) and vectorize using the old Casmate. It beats the heck outa everything else I've tried, and I've got FLEXI 6.6 and it's OK but doesn't come close to the old CASMATE!

Looks like time to check in and say "Thanks, guys!"
I'm still screwed up but I'm getting closer.
All of our old computers burned up and our old program, "Sign Studio", won't
work on XP, so we got this old version of Flexi, and another old computer!
Didn't realize you can't scan directly into it.
If we keep foolin' with it - we'll get it...(or another program!).

***Mr. J. - I remember you from the first American Letterhead meet I went to
in Westchester(?) N.Y. about 1984.
