Hey All,

Earlier this week in a thread titled windows driver for Gerber Edge, I mentioned about being “lazy”, implying that I don’t want to work any harder then I have to. Well, this “laziness” has been taken to a new level with some “external” validation! [Wink]

On Tuesday morning my wife was lucky caller number “something” on a local radio station. The contest was simple, so she thought; tell us a story about your husband being lazy and win a $50.00 dollar gift certificate to a local furniture store. She was the caller selected to tell a story on the air. Off air before hanging up, the radio personality said someone would call her later that day to give her details on the “rest” of the contest. Seams my loving wife only “heard” part of the contest. [Eek!] The promotions director called her later in the day and provided the “details”. The contest was called “Central PA’s Official Laziest Husband”. Details are:

  • Taking a total of five callers during the week to “qualify” for the grand prize.
  • Grand prize winner will be selected Friday morning at 7:45.
  • Grand prize winner must be available Friday evening between 6:00-8:00 at the furniture store.
  • During that two hour time period, grand prize winner will be seated in a lounging chair, watch TV, and eat the provided Papa Johns pizza and do on air interviews.
Winner receives:
  • Trip to and return from the furniture store in a stretched White limo
  • All the pizza I care to eat during the two hour broadcast
  • 52 coupons for a free large, one topping pizza from Papa Johns
  • A free lounge chair
  • A free 32” TV
  • Three hours of maid service
Well, I got a call this morning from my wife informing me that our plans for this evening had changed, as I was “officially” declared the area’s laziest husband! Didn’t know what exactly to expect, but it was great! Limo driver to the event was really a lot of fun, entire radio staff on hand were very nice and a blast to be around, and every one of the furniture store guys said I was there new “hero”! Different limo and driver taking us back home was even more fun. Truly, a wonderful time!
Got to tell you, being “lazy” paid off rather well this evening. Pizza’s, TV, limo, cleaning service, “air time”, all just neat stuff! The lounge chair is “way kool”. - It has an integrated multi-speed back massager, right arm lifts to reveal the massager controls PLUS a built in phone and TV remote storage area. Under the left arm is a cooler and beverage holder. On top of all of that, it’s SOOOOO comfortable. So, I’m going to be “milking” this new title for a few weeks!
And incase if your wondering, the “story” told on the radio is how I request my wife to use boneless/skinless chicken breast when doing BBQ chicken on the grill. I like my chicken to fall of the bone as it’s a lot less work to eat, and when doing it on the grill, it never gets that tender! Call me lazy if you want, but for ONCE it has “paid” me well!

Although not connected to our industry, I would like to thank The Rose - WROZ 101.3FM radio, Value City Furniture, Harrisburg Radio Labs, Papa Johns Pizza, Merry Maids, and Unique Limousine.

Guess a small nod should go to my “loving” wife as well! If you come for a visit, I’ll have some pizza in the fridge.
 -

So here are some of the “early” pictures…

Well done, Bob!

You have given me a new low level to strive for. You will be the inspiration of all lazy signmaking husbands.

I would applaud and give you a pat on the back but, frankly, I am just too inspired to be lazy. I am surprised I found the effort to type this reply.

I think I am going to go and assume my position in my recling chair and have Dana fetch me a soda...

I just might find the ambition to visit you two sometime but you will have to come up with a better incentive than some one topping pizza... [Wink]

Have a great one!

Hey Bob,

Way to go, I don't know Bob, I think they heard about how hi-tech you are and that turned it your way. Kinda weird I'm talking about getting lazy in my post and your getting rewarded for it at the same time across town, congratulations, save me a piece.

If your were "truly" lazy you would have had the limo driver carry you to the car. I saw you standing up in a couple of those pictures! that's NOT what I call lazy! [Big Grin]

Does Advertizing Work! (Yes)

Many Years ago the Local Station asked (Why you what the Day OFF!)(With Pay)

My wife had sent in the response in Envelopes marked with Insurance Company she worked for....

The Station opened them thinking it was a Isurance bill and we both won a Day off Each!!!!!

With Pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Cool]

Thanks for letting me share everybody! It was a “fun” deal.

Bruce,

Your reply has “possibly” inspired me to teach my methods at the Mars meet this August. If it happens, I’ll send a videotape! [Wink] But then again, doing such a class would take some effort and I don’t know if I’m up for it. [Razz]

Dave (of the Kilgore kind),

Guess I could supply the pizza for our future get together. Although you’re so far out in the “sticks” that I’m surprised you get mail delivery let alone pizza delivery! -

Michael,

I tried that line! Nobody wanted to hear of it. [Smile] Actually, one of the first things “I” wanted to do was look at the radio stations graphics on the promotion van. Is that just sad or what!

Thanks again everyone! I’m going to go “nap” now! -

Bob, it takes a truly lazy man to get something done. The reason: The lazy man will DO ANYTHING to get out of work. He will even go so far as doing it right the first time.
