On wood signs, I save a lot of time cutting prep, prime, & painting MDO if I can do 4 at once instead of 1 now & them coming back later for more. Also can offer reduced price on screenprinting quantities.
On cutting & weeding vinyl to apply to alum. there is really no reduced cost to you in quantities done at one time vs. seperate times, so I don't know that you need to offer a discount. Price seems fair enough that incentive to get for would be worth dropping 10 - 15%

You won't have to do a lay-out for the extra signs if they are the same copy; you only type up one invoice for the job and you don't have to "sell" the additional signs. What are those items worth? Figure out how much time you saved, assign a dollar amount to that and there is your discount.

i did a bunch of park rules signs a few months back. i found it was easier to screen print them, rather than cutting so many small words. if it was only one sign, i'd use vinyl -- four signs are a definate screen print job.
also, the printed signs are a bit more vandal resistant (you cant peel the letters off, and the signs are easier to clean).
the sign contractors pricing guide gives $983 for SIX signs, including .040 aluminum. i'd figure four signs on heavier aluminum would come in about the same price. you can put the park names on in vinyl (and in a contrasting color, for variety, to make it a "two color" job). Figure $1000 for all four, since you have the extra work for the four different names. at $250 each, that's an attractive price.
If you don't do screen printing yourself, you can easily sub that out and pocket the differnce.

My 2000 Sign Contractor's Guide Lists $222.00 for a 16 sq. ft. sign on 24 guage STEEL.
Under that it says "Each word over 8 add $8.00 per word".
This sign has 87 words (plus a border stripe). 87-8=79 79 words @ $8.00/word= $632.00
$222.00 24 guage steel sign $632.00 all extra words over 8 That's a grand total of $854.00 for a 4x4 24 guage steel sign with 87 words if I'm reading the price guide right!!!!
I use the price guide alot but it was kinda hard to do on this one. The way I do it is to figure the price in the price guide and then knock off 40% of that. I just multiply the price by .60 and that usually works in my neck of the woods.
But 60% of $854 is still $512.40. Still way too high even on .080 aluminum.

Wayne, you're reading the wrong page. the "metal signs" page gives you an 8-word sign. they're figuring you've got a basic sign. for a sign with a lot of words, go to the "menu signs" page -- that page figures in all the labor for lots of small words. they allow 20 items, with 5 words per item, so that's pretty close to what you're doing. they give you $21.50 per square foot (simple, 1 color), which would work out to $344 for one sign, and a 5% discount for 4 signs for $327 each. You'll also need to add the cost difference for the 080 aluminum, which will push the price up higher.
that's still a lot higher than the price if you screen print them.
i figure i could wholesale 4 screen printed signs to you for $400 ($100 each) plus the aluminum and shipping -- and i'm not even a production screen printer. somebody who specializes in that could probably beat that price.

Thanks Scooter, I forgot about that menu category. I'm checking that right now.
But wouldn't you have to make 3 or 4 different screens? All the rules are supposed to remain the same but the phone numbers and park names will be different for each one.

screen print all the rules and leave the name and phone number areas blank. then, either:
1. use vinyl for the name and phone (simple, four words, and you can do it in the same color or a different color "for emphasis").
or
2. make a second screen that has the four names and phone numbers -- you just mask each one off and print accordingly. this is pretty standard work for a commerical screen printer.
either way, its a lot easier than weeding all 356 words on four signs!
