For those who have been wondering. Unfortunatly it is now official....I am Retired!!!!!

The doctors think they have slowed down the bone loss to a min. but the damage is already done. If I would continue to work I would only do more damage.

I had a disability hearing a few weeks ago and was granted full disabilty. Not what I wanted at 38 years old, but I guess you do what you have to for your family.

I am keeping my plotter and most of my sign stuff, just to piddle around and do little stuff from time to time. The stuff I don't need I will either sell to who ever or give to a good friend I met here in this very "ville", "Letterville that is"

I hope to maybe go back to school or find a carrer that I can do, maybe on a part time basis at least, but for now I will just drive the wife crazy and hopefully get some fishing line wet from time to time. I am in no rush, just going to take my time and make the right choice.

I will continue to consider myself a "Letterhead" and along with keeping up on things going on here, I will try to make some live meets when I can!!!! And, it goes without saying I will keep in touch with so many people here that I consider good friends.

If anyone needs anything, just let me know and I will do my best to pitch in!!!! It is the least I can do to try to repay the kindness that has been shown to me and my family from this wonderful place. Thank you Steve and Barb for all that you do and to all the folks that make this such a family, not just another website in cyber space.

I'm so sorry to hear your news Troy. Maybe you could look at it as "early retirement!" Hope you have good health coverage.

Troy, like Pat said. . it is WHO and WHAT you are!! You have a vast reservoir of knowledge. Why not persue the avenue of "sign consultant". Or, what other field that you are good at. I know you are not just gonna sit on the couch eating bon bons and watching the soaps !!!
Good luck in your endeavors, my friend!! [Wink]

Hi Troy,

Sorry to hear that things have come to this stage, but you are a gutsy character and you will do OK with a career change if you put your mind to it. Wishing you all the best, from our house to your house.

You've got the talent and the smarts...why not take some management training...hire a good crew and stay in the business...you could be your own designer.

Just a thought!

No matter what it is you decide to do just remember 3 things...

1 NEVER GIVE UP!

2 NEVER GIVE UP!

3 NEVER GIVE UP!

and I know you won't (I met you)... [Smile]

Hey Troy,

I THINK I met you at Pat Kings Duck Soup, not really sure. I am really sorry to hear about the way things have been going with your health. Hopefully this is all that you will have to endure for a very long time in regards to bad news.

Anyway, what Monte said makes about the most sense. From what I have heard about you, it would be a shame to lose a telent like yourself in this business, You have the ability to do the brain work, just need to find a few good people to do the labor portion. who knows, give it a try and see if it works. Remember.....

COLUMBUS TOOK A CHANCE!

May you always be a contributor to the letterhead movement!

Troy,

Sorry to hear of your medical situation and your inability to work. I assume that your disability is long term. I am curios what kind of piddling a disabled guy can do with sign making equipment and supplies? If he were to piddle for a few bucks would he report it to the SS disability office? Would he consider selling or using his equipment or supplies to settle business debts? I remember seeing a film clip of a disabled postal worker "piddling" with firewood onetime. I'm sure that this post will be deleted. I also think the mamby pamby will consider this mean spirited and unsympathetic. There is no symphony for the industrious. You gave your word.

reciving a disablity ....is not the same as WORKMANS COMP. most of the stories you see about them watchin guys...they are trying to rip off the workmans comp. ive seen a few of these people.....when i used to have "jobs". they will get a job, work for 3-6 months, hurt them selfs somehow, then try to milk the workmans comp for it. being declared "full disability" is not the same thing....he can still make some side money without bringing the S.S.(pun) down on him. not matter what your condition you still will have to do something.....or we turn into vegetables.....and watch the soaps..hehehehe
