I downloaded this art for a customer from Microsoft's website. It's a bit-map image taht I can't view. It has the file format noted at the end of it - .cil. I am wondering that since this came from Microsofts website, if this is a format from the Corel program, or Microsoft Office. I am on the Mac OS 9.2.2 , using Freehand 10 and Photoshop 6. Can anyone out there help me by opening this one up, then saving as an Illustrator or eps or jpg file format? Those I can then open. Just need to view it in my Freehand 10. Please e-mail or call 712-225-2175. I could e-mail it to you, then if you could 'Save As' or 'Export' in noted format's and send back to me. Thank's ahead of time. Mick Samsel

I think you could open it with Word, but could it be exported in an other format? (thanx Microsoft) If openable with Word, I could try to open it with icWord (I see Word) and saver it in picture format. If you want a try send it to me.

Hiya Mick, It's a Micosoft clip gallery image. Check out the details on line @ http://dgl.microsoft.com/ Apparently you do need a Microsoft product to view or use this type of image. Havin' fun, Checkers

I have the Windows 2000 package and Corel 10. If you want to email the file to me, I should be able to get it over into some other format for you.
Use victor20@pacbell.net Our other email has behaved strangely the last few days.

PS, it just occured to me that there might be copyright issues with this. Can you tell me if these are free downloads? Vic G

If I understand weel, you need to be a registered MS user to get a clip on this site and when you clip on a .cil image, something other dowload in an other place of your computer, .cil are not real images, more something like .exe. I think the best way is to ask Gergiu (sp?) to download himself the file. The MS product are usually pretty closed (ie not to be used in other software). They don't like to share!

This computer has the Office 2000 package purchased with the machine from Dell.
If you double click on a .cil file, it opens the program that Checkers mentioned - Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 - with the file displayed. From there it can be cut and pasted to other Windows programs.
Inside of Word, if you select insert clipart from the internet, it takes you to the Microsoft website where there are stern warnings about how you can and cannot use their clipart.
That answers both questions. Vic G

That's really interesting Victor... Case not quite closed yet..
The clipart gallery tool and the microsoft online clipart library are really worth looking at, for example they have 7 holsteins (cows), 4 of which are in wmf (vector) format. The search engine is also quite fast. If you click on a thumbmail while in the online library, it will tell you whether the file is a jpg or a wmf. You can also drag and drop images from the clipart viewer directly into Coreldraw. Hmmm..

Victor, thanks again for your help as I had mentioned via e-mail.
Letterheads come through again. Those of you not residents...jump on board, pay the 'taxes'. this group is very helpful and we all know something like this billboard does take a LOT of time and energy and money. Your taxes help with that. Steve and Barb are great. Thanks again all! Mick
