I'm looking for a replacement for Elmers Wood Filler. It seems that they have change the fomula and the new stuff takes forever to dry. Someone told me about a product that is called Fix It. I have never heard of it. It is suppose to be like Duffy's. It's a powder that you mix with water. Anyone ever heard of it? Thanks.

YEAH....IT'S GREAT STUFF! YELLOW & GREEN BOX. I USE IT TO FRAME SMALL SIGNS WITH...LIKE A PICTUREFRAME....BEFORE IT DRIES, I ETCH SCROLLS INTO IT WITH A QUILL HANDLE. WHEN IT DRIES I PAINT IT OR LEAF IT. WHEN WET,IT'S KINDA LIKE OATMEAL. AS AFILLER, I'M SUREIT WOULD WORK JUST FINE! THE NAME OF THE STUFF IS FIX-ALL.

Steve, you might have gotten some Elmer's that was a bad batch. If the label still reads the same as what you have used successfully in the past, and if the color appears a little off, then chances are you got ahold of a bad batch. Ran into this with the same product once some several years ago.
FWIW.

when I was in college, I did some work in the Theatre's shop, we made stage sets etc. we used something similar, it was a powder that came in a big bag (like concrete). when mixed with water, it was just like Elmer's glue. we could thin it way down with water and use it to "size" the canvas. you might check with a theatre supply place. I used to buy all kinds of useful stuff from those type of suppliers.

Bob/All, I found what you are describing at this site: http://www.wellspent.org/Category?c=9083 . The price seems right... Is it pliable? How well does it hold up to the elements? It appears to be made for a concrete repair......

Thanks you guys for the help. Bill I thought that I had gotten a bad batch but I was told that Elmers had to change something to meet California standards. The guys at Ace told me some folk from Ca came in an bought all he had of the "old" stuff. I'm not thrilled about mixing a batch of Fix All everytime I need to fill a joint but what the heck I'll give it a try. Thanks again Heads for all the help. Have a good one!
Hey Bob if you ever get going north on Hwy 89 and make it this far, stop in and I'll buy the coffee.
