Just wanted to know how many of you are using Cocut along with Corel in your shop. I'm current just cutting with Corel and a roland driver. Lately I've been thinking of speeding the process of preparing vinyl to cut. I have no problem cutting from Corel, just organizing the vinyl to be cut in a non wasteful manor. It would be nice if I could make a simple program just for the purpose of setting up a weeding board and organizing for objects and letters to be cut. Any Ideas?

If you're already cutting from corel, cocut basic has little or nothing to offer you. Cocut pro does have some interesting features. To get the best idea of what cocut is about, download the manuals in .pdf format (as well as the demos) from here . If your only concern is vinyl wastage in cutting directly from Corel, cut & paste your finished design into a blank Corel page, rearrange the objects by color in order to minimize vinyl usage, then cut.

I've got co-cut pro and don't know any better! When I started my business I just purchased the package of Summa cutter and CCPro. I sometimes wonder what I'm missing by not having a "regular" sign makers software but I've been pretty happy with it. I've tried the "save material" portion a few times and it does rearrange things so that you maximize your material but it's more of a pain to rearrange everything afterwards. After a few tries I just design and cut and don't really worry about the waste as much. I do save scraps tho. It has a feature that helps out on weeding where it will cut releifs all over the place and a new feature which I haven't played with yet is the fotocut which allows you to cut a photograph out in dots or stripes or summat. Don't know if I helped or hindered but thats what I've been using.

youd be futher ahead with SIGN TOOLS...or VINYL MASTER PRO.......is the best bang for your buck..

If you look around you will find a used version cocut pro for about 1/2 the list price. Thas what I did and find that cocut pro is a great addition to Corel.

It's worth noting that either this month or next, the 10,000th copy of CoCut will be sold. That makes it one of the top selling programs in the sign industry ... so clearly, many think it worth the money.
Mike 0', I'd disagree that CoCut standard has nothing to offer if you're already cutting from Corel. It has less to offer with some cutters, such as Rolands. But that's due to limitations within the cutters themselves.
With Summa cutters, and others that have more advance plotting languages and bidirectional communication, standand CoCut does a lot more than just cut from Corel:
Native cutter language support, not just HPGL
Cut by color
Make copies
Add weed borders
Control speed and pressure
Read usable width
Save settings for different types of material
Preview before cutting

Hi, we've been using co-cut pro since last summer (2001) when we bought our Summa Durasign. I've been using Corel almost exclusively since version 3, and co-cut just extends my everyday usage into our sign trade. I usually research thing out very well before I purchase, Our Durasign and Co-cut were no exception.
I must say that Co-cut is very comfortable for me to use. It's very straightforeward and I know that I don't use most it's extended features. The fact that you can visibly add weeding lines is, to me, one of it's most powerful and handy features. Well worth every buck! By the way, tech support is very good!
I'm just a very satisfied customer!

Oh yes, i forgot to mention... CoCut will cut thru Illustrator too.. Another big plus. Especially when you get some AI. art. Just open and cut away.. So nice, so easy..
