I just got back from the Ben Moore paint store and they told me about the new warranty on some of their coatings. I only use Benjamin Moore MOORGUARD housepaints for all my HDU signs. It was 15. But, now. . . TWENTY FIVE YEARS ??? Does that mean I should get at least 7-10 good years out of the product? Like 30 year shingles need to be replaced in 10..... well, I love the product, anyways !!
Even with this extended warranty from Ben Moore and a 20 year warranty from SignFoam, I do NOT offer any warranties on my signs. Not expressed nor implied.

I've been using Benjamin Moore's Impervo oilbased paint for years. I like it alot. Their paints are a pleasure to paint with! I need to paint our house this summer and will only use Benj. Moore house paint too, as you only have to give one coat.

Ditto here, I use mostly Benjamin Moore Impervo on MDO. I especially like their ultra white, because it really is "ultra" white. But 25 years is certainly an exageration.
I wonder about those warranties myself. I have been using Sherwin Williams "super paint" on the hdu signs I do. The last I bought had the 25 year warranty, up five years from the last I bought(probably the same formula). The warranty from SW says that it has to be double coated to be covered . I am kinda like you , If I can get 10 years out of it before a repaint I will be satisfied. I tell my customers their signs shouldnt need a repaint before 7 - 10 years depending upon exposure. I hope I am not setting myself up for some repaints but to sell something at 65-80 bucks a sq. ft. I believe it shouldnt need repainting before 7- 10 years.

Is that warranty transferable? I paint my house today, sell it in five years...Does the warranty transfer to the new owner? If it doesn't, the manufacturer is playing a numbers game - no of valid warranties in domain compared to drop off warranties on re sold items.
They do this kind of thing in the window tinting industry. LIFETIME WARRANTIES...Not transferable to new owner. How many people do you know who keep a car for their lifetime? Is it the lifetime of the vehicle? or the lifetime of the window film.
Sorry I'm raving...It just gives me the s@##$ts that Manufacturers do this with little regard to the poor schmo doing the work.
I'm now off my soap box

In regards to tint warranties... it could be transferable.. and with the two companies i deal with 3M and LLumar,, they'll pay the installer the retail rate he charged if theres a fix... in 10 plus years, we've had zero failures with tint....
