I know we all learn something from this board. I’ve seen my work improve tremendously since I started hanging around here. With influences like SignCraft and other magazines out there, and the helpfulness offered here and at live Letterhead Meets … how can it not enable anyone to turn it up a notch with their work?
I’ve been noticing one person who’s just been going gangbusters since her involvement here. I just get a kick out of all the ways she keeps her hands dirty, and of all the things I see her getting into by her questions on here. She’s a sponge when it comes to taking in knowledge, and best yet, APPLYING that knowledge.
This gal’s got the gumption to try just about anything and is up for most any challenge. What an inspiration I find in that!
I thought she is well deserving of a good pat on the back here, accompanied by one helluva “atta girl!”. I hope she doesn’t mind me placing her in the spotlight here.
I’m talking about Amy Brown, from my very own home state of Florida! You are doing us proud Amy! Keep up the terrific work!
Smiles, Janette

I have learned a ton of stuff here. I have managed to make it to a couple of Letterhead Meets where I learned even more and met a lot of great people.
When I started doing the sign thing I was just looking to make a little money so I could stay home with my little girl. Now I have found something that I truly love. I have tons of learning to do but that makes it even more exciting!
Thanks again to Nettie and everyone else for making me feel really great! Good timing too! Tomorrow is my birthday!

I couldnt agree with you more! Before you revealed who you were speaking of, I thought you were speaking of Amy.
Amy, your enthusiasm for the trade comes out in your posts, responses and work. I, like you, love the trade and believe that one can and will be successful if they love what they are doing. I think the customers that I seek out pick up on my enthusiasm & love for my work and therefore are more willing to buy my work. ESPECIALLY the dimensional signs that I have been doing over the past year or so. This site, as well as Signcraft, and all the folks on the BB have been instrumental in the measure of success that I have experienced. Thanks to all who make this BB a success!

Amy, you deserve the recognition. The great thing about watching someone develop different skills here, is getting to learn right along with them. The people that reply to these how-to posts help not only the person asking for help, but other people that read the posts as well.
Thanks to everyone that asks questions, and everyone that answers with knowledge and without judgement.
Happy Birthday Amy!

Nettie,,,,,, a few years ago, Mark Fair started something similar with the Sign of the Month award. Would you consider this on a monthly basis with input from the audience ???

Hats off to you Amy .. Nettie hit the nail on the head, again..
There are a lot more sponges here other than Amy, I'm one .. . and I'm proud of it!
I can't put into words how much I've learned here on the board, .. My background is technical. . . not artistic; but through this board I've learned there is a common ground between the technician and the artist - it's called craftmanship. There's a lot we can learn from each other, I'm happy to input where I can, and absorb when I can't.

Nettie, you couldn't have done a finer thing. I had always noticed how Amy was always wanting to learn as much as she could, and always eager to help when she could. IF we could all have her outlook...what a wonderful world. And she's real purty too! Happy Birthday Amy, and thanks Nettie. You're always on top of things.

Not to take away from anyone else’s comments above, but think about it from a slightly different point of view.
Today = Honourable Recognition
Saturday = Birthday
Sunday = Mothers Day
The above simple points out to me that it could be a very, very long weekend for Robert!!! Yell if you need more beer buddy!

Thanks again everyone. You've really made me feel fantastic today! Gosh, I love this place! Steve & Barb, my dues are coming real soon.
This is the most busy two weeks of the year for me (and the most expensive!). I have my father-in-law's b-day today, me tomorrow, two nephews this week, two friends & my brother-in-law plus two mothers and a grandmother for mothers day and as if that wasn't enough I have a niece graduating as well. Glad I had a good business week!
Once again, thanks so much! Letterville Rocks!

Great post Nettie and Amy is a great recipient...I'd much rather open the BB and find this kind of post than any "OT" post or negative ranting. This is a place we can all come for positive support and comraderie and when people like you are here to greet us...surprise us and teach us...all is right with the world.
Thanks Nettie for your kindness...
