Bob, my experience is similar to yours. Yesterday, I had just begun to work on a design for a local Bread & Breakfast when the mailman delivered my package containing the Broadway Collection from Mike Jackson. After drooling over all the neat designs I slipped in the CD and used some of the clip art on the B&B layout.

Within two hours I had designed the sign, presented it to the owner, sold a $3,000 job, and had a deposit check in my hand. You can't beat a deal like that!! Within two hours the CD had paid for itself. Just think how much more money I can make when have more time to mull over the contents.

That experience is almost identical to receiving The Main Street Collection from Mike, when the first job brought in $4,000.

I'm sold on anything Golden Studios puts out. The pieces of artwork are clean, sharp, and easy to work with. Between the three CD's of Jackson and the two from David Butler there is a life time of designs. The possibilities are endless. Can you tell that I'm excited about this stuff?

After all these years I have never received a dime from that cheapskate Mike Jackson, but he keeps saying that if I come to Jackson Hole he will buy me dinner. Look out Mike, I may be on your doorstep one of these days....and I can eat a lot for a little guy.

Ray,
Maybe Mike will cook you up a SWANSON HUNGRY MAN dinner! (Just kidding Mike)

Applying various Photoshop plug-ins (especially EYE-CANDY) is a real eye-opener!
Printing large-format 4X8s applying some plug-in stuff and Mike's stuff is really awesome!
Opens up a whole new world of applications!

Bob mentioned using Eye Candy to enhance some of our panels and shapes from the CDs. The ornaments on the end of this panel have been assigned a light amber color in Photoshop, and then given a carved or embossed effect in Eye Candy (I used Inner Bevel). The letters were done the same way, using one of Chuck Davis' Letterhead Fonts (Smaltz).

If you have an Edge or Color Cam, you can print out the bitmap images for some pretty incredible effects. I have written a couple of Photoshop articles in the last two issues of SignCraft dealing with making selections and saving them as channels or layers. That information can help you learn how to make graphics similar to the panel above.

Thanks to Bob and Raymond for the nice posts. I can't imagine these disks not paying for themselves right away!
