Hello, I'm looking to buy a new plotter. 20-24" sprocket fed with sliders on the sprocket wheels so that I can cut smaller widths as well. A lot of what I cut is long stripes etc. If any of you could lead me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. M Walker

Matt, there are a lot of good discussions in the previous posts on this subject. You really would do yourself a favor and use the search function of this board to read all the past ideas. Sounds like most plotters would fit the bill for you as far as your needs are concerned.
I wouldn't spend a lot of money if cutting stripes was my main objective.

Zeta came close a few years ago. They (or it) could swap between 30 " and 15" sprocket as well as operate in friction mode. It's fatal flaw was that it placed the knife directly on top of the rotating drum...sticking the knife into the drum was not cool...not to mention that it could only use the so called IBM or CAD sprockrt hole pattern. Otherwise, it was a very competent cutter..?? hk

well tractor feed i think berber is the only one still makin them....but a lot of the newer ones claim their friction feed will perform as well. iam a roland lover...dont know anything else...if i was to go new it would be CX-300

We (Summa) made a variable width pin-feed plotter a few years back ... the SummaSign T1010+. It was Tangential, and went from 15 to 40 inches wide. It's possible you could locate one in the used market.
Your only new option would be a pair of Gerbers, one 15-inch and one 30-inch.
I also suspect that both Howard (Graphtec) and I could argue successfully that punched material has it's own problems, and that pinch-feed plotters can be as reliable, or even more so, depending on your application.
What are you cutting that required variable width punched?
