A customer has requested a sign. He wants it to be about 3'x3'. Outdoor sign in Canadian weather. The specifics are..He wants it to be either a dry erase or grease pencil marker board for changing special deals. He wants it to be waterproof and vandal proof.
Has anyone ever done something like this? Any ideas that you can toss out?
I am thinking grease pencil on white acrylic with some kind of clear acrylic hinged cover????
Any ideas or specifics would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dave, it's good to hear from you! Product Sign Supply in San Jose sells white write-on vinyl, I don't know the manufacturer. You can write on the stuff with a permanent felt tip pen, water will not wash it off. Rub it hard with a dry paper towel and the text will come off.
Just lay this stuff on a good substrate and you have a write on sign. Vic G

you can use a product called marlite it looks like painted masonite but its used for bathroom shower stall panneling and can be found at building supply stores it the same matteral used on the pricey fraimed marking boards at office supply stores some of it comes colored or with prints but they do make a clean white and have used it offten on a-frame signs for daily specials. they also make a vinyl product that will work the same way

I am doing one right now. I use Melmanite (brand name shower board - get it at Menards Home Depot etc) in a 4 x 8 sheet. I letter & stripe it and than install a clear track (like the gas stations use to change the $$ of gas) on the top & bottom. I put a piece of clear plex on top that slides out from one side.
Good luck

Dave, try Rainbow Signs in Toronto. Phone number 416-665-9663. They make a "remarkerable" board that won't wash off in rain. You wipe it off using windex when you want to change messages.

Piece of cake, got a 36" roll of dry erase laminate in stock. Digital print on vinyl, mount to whatever substrate and then overlaminate with dry erase.
