I've invested in the Signwriter's pricing guide and Mark Roberts pricing books for several years. Almost every situation is covered in one or more ways, depending on how you add things up.
Why is there no category for "ALUMALITE" or "Econolite"?

i use the "Sign Contractors Pricing Guide", but i'm not familiar with the other one.
MOST of the money in a sign is the labor -- there isn't much labor difference between applying letters (vinyl or paint) to acrylic versus other smooth panels. i just use the "plastic sign face" price and add in the difference between the substrate cost. (MDO takes a lot more work to sand, prep, prime, edge seal, or whatever, so you can't really use that for the pricing).
example: a sheet of 1/8" acrylic costs me about $56; the Alumalite is $98. Now add your mark-up (I use 40 percent) and you get $93 and $163. The price difference to the customer is about $70, which works out to $2.18/square foot. Now you can price the sign (under the plastic sign face page) and add the $2.18/square foot.
The same system would apply to any smooth, ready-to-letter material -- Dibond, PVC, Fiberglas board, etc.
ps: can you give me some info on the other pricing guide you mentioned?
