i've got two customers i'm doing some window lettering strips for. These are solid bands of color, with the lettering in a contrast color or else reverse weeded.

i've never done these before, and now that i'm looking for examples, i haven't seen any. (next week, when the job is done, i'll see nothing BUT this, i'm sure).

so.. i could use some color and sizing help from you people who know. these are typical small retail stores -- i'm putting the lettering right about 6' to the centerline, so it will be slightly above eye level, and easily visible from the street. how wide should the stripe be, and what colors "work" for windows?

one customer wants a light aqua or robin-egg blue stripe, so i was going to reverse weed and let the letters be the clear glass (which reads like black, sort of). do i need to outline the letters? is a 4" stripe too narrow?

the other customer uses red and yellow, and has larger windows, so i thought i'd try a 6" yellow band with red lettering (the red is Arlon "Perfect Match Red" and the yellow is "Yellow").

i'm going to put up a sample on-site, but i want to make sure i'm at least close to correct before i show up with something wrong and look like i don't know what i'm doing. (OK, i DONT know what i'm doing, but i don't want them to know that!).

Hi Scooter...I am working on a similar job. I will do the lettering on the outside as the windows are pretty tinted. The stripe I am going to do is about 14" wide. The lettering is white and gold (some of the lower letters got lost with reducing the size to show you) Hope this helps. I am looking forward to seeing yours.
