Corel seems to crash almost daily. Could be just openning an existing file. Have enough ram(320) and 900mghz Pentium III. I've downloaded the upgrades. Says Corel has performed an illeagal operation and will shut down. Anybody else have his problem? Fixes? Cheers

I've been carping about Corel 10 crashes for some time. Last night I was pounding away in Corel 7 and down it went. It was a big big file. Now I'm thinking it might be memory. I have Win 2000. Pentium III 766(?) 130 meg ram. Vic G

I've got Corel 9 on 4 workstations over win98se, and one at home running on win2000. They're all very stable.
Memory options is Tools>Options>Memory with 320 meg of ram you can let it have around 200 (max)
You also might have a conflict with another application running in the background.
Goto Start>Run type 'msconfig' goto the startup tab and uncheck everything but the essentials (don't worry you aren't removing or deleting anything,). Try Corel with a clean startup,

A Common problem with newer Corel versions..
You can reduce the amount of crashes by reducing the amount of undo's to around 25 or so. default is 99. Undo's use lot of memory.
change undo levels by tools/ options/ general tab type in the amount u want.
99 undo's is really unnecessary.

Robert, If you are using WIN 2000, give this a try. Before opening Corel, hit Control Alt. Delete to bring up the task manager. Click the Processes tab and keep an eye on what is running when you open Corel. Watch the CPU column to see what is going on in the background. It's possible that you have a shared file conflict.
WIN 95/98 only need explorer and systray running. I'm not sure about WIN2000. Maybe someone else on the board will know if I'm correct but I believe that systray was replaced with vptray in 2000.
