Could have been said by robbers Bonnie and Clyde during one of their many hold ups. Here is a link to a pistol I have. I could use some suggestions or advice. I have contacted Whiskey Pete’s in Las Vegas (where the death car is at) to see if they are interested in purchasing it for their museum of Bonnie and Cylde. If no bites, I was planning on putting it up for auction on Ebay, but found out weapons cannot be sold there. I found another auction place called gunbrokers.com which I understand can be sold there. I know many of you folks are arm bearers, but my question is to all of you. If you had this piece what would you do to sell it at it’s maximum sale. On the other hand, what kind of price would you start at? There is one pistol on historian Frank Ballinger's web site Bonnie and Clyde's Hideout http://texashideout.tripod.com/bc.htm that was sold for a nice chunk of money although they had papers on it. (I know documentation makes a huge difference) Anyway if you scroll down his list you will see my gun under “Clyde’s gift to Bonnie” Let me know what you think. I will most likely start this auction very soon, but I need to read all this fine print in the sellers section. I also thought of ending the bid on May 23rd the day they were killed, 68 years ago. Not sure how long you can have an auction last. I have never had a collectors item like this or have ever placed anything on a web site for auction. Let me know your thoughts...Cisco

Don't know bout the gun, but here's some history for ya. I had a great uncle who actually knew Bonnie real well. In the small town of Catahoula, La, my uncle and Bonnie lived together for 8 months. He never stated if they were just friends or what. He told us Clyde had came around to pick Bonnie up and even asked my uncle if he wanted to go along with them and be the getaway driver. He told them he didn't want to ( he said he didn't trust Clyde, he was a mean sob) and Bonnie & Clyde left Catahoula, not long after they were killed. Lucky thing he didn't go with them.
I thought he was pulling my leg, but there is a movie about it and there's one part where they ask a guy to go along with them. Havn't seen that movie but would like to someday. (there was more than one movie)My uncle was interviewed about it a couple of times as well.

hey Cisco! Too bad you don't have any documentation on that gun, otherwise, it would be your retirement money!
Call Littele John's Auction Service at 714-939-1170, and ask for Carol (tell her you are a friend of mine). They have auctions on antique guns a couple of times every year.
Also try the guys on http://www.antiqueguns.com/ they are pretty savvy guys on that stuff (sort of like Gun Letterheads)

Thanks Timi, I readjusted the link (got rid of the www.) Yeah this piece is getting quite interesting.
Tony B, is your great uncle still alive?
Si, thanks for the info. I'll be trying as many gun forums as I can find to get the word out. After I did this post I rethought about instead of ending the bid on the 23rd, I might begin it on the 23rd. Gives me more time to make a better plan.

Cisco you don't say how you came in possesion of such a wonderful piece but if it were me I'd keep it! There's a reason they are called "collector's" pieces. Just a thought and I know the money can be tempting but a piece of history and a great gun is worth a lot more than money. What ever you do, good luck!

Cisco that is a great story! I loved the movie too. Good luck in getting top dollar for your gun.

Gibsland, La. where they met their fate is not too far from here. I've visited the spot and it seems sort of eerie to stand there in the silence of the twilight and think back to what happened there 60 some-odd years before. Woooooooo!!!!

My home is in Joplin, MO where Bonnie and Clyde have plenty of history. One of their biggest shootouts with police is just 12 block south and the bullet holes are still there. Cisco, thanks for the link, I will pass it on to many. I didn't know it existed..

Sorry to hear about your uncle Tony, like I mentioned to you via email. I think it will be like looking for the needle in the haystack about anyone who really knows about the pistol.
Steve Nuttle, ahhhh amigo...you didn't go to the link and read what Frank Ballinger wrote, take another peak at it. But like all good things come to an end. I feel it's time to sell. My only regret will be if who ever buys it, somehow later in time finds some documentation and then makes a HUGE profit from it.
Cheryl, the story was written by Frank Ballinger. The movie about B&C is not an easy movie to find anymore. After reading your reply yesterday I thought about it, and started calling around I think I found one place that had it, but it was wayyyyy across town. Yeah I also hope I can get a good price for it. Funny thing is nobody yet has come up with a good starting price what I should ask for.
Roy, that probably would be a wierd feeling. Yup it'll be 68 years ago on May 23rd that they were shot down. On May 24-25 they have a Bonnie and Clyde Festival I think even an re-enactment of the ambush at Gibland, LA. Might be interesting to check it out if your not that far from it.
Bronzeo, Yeah they did alot of damamge thru out many states. Must be interesting to know you live where they were once at. I haven't read all of Frank Ballinger's web site but I'm sure there is something in it that mentions Joplin. If not Frank would be interested in the photos of it for his site.

In Arcadia, La., just up the road from Gibsland, they have a Bonnie & Clyde Trade Days on several weekends during the summer. It's one huge flea market and craft show.
