Hey gang, anyone have a source or know of one for stand-offs for glass panels? I'm putting
together a bid for 3 1/2 x 9 and 3 x 14 glass panels. The glass will be etched on the back with
dark green vinyl lettering on the front. The client wants them to stand off the solid core doors
on which they will be mounted. The heads for the screws need to be caps or buttons. Aynone
know of a source for such hardware? Thanks in advance.

Steve

Steve, you are looking for Stand Off Systems
www.standoffsystems.com

They have a rep in Reno 775 829 1331

I think there is a Letterhead merchant who offers this product or something similar, sad to say I can't remember who. You might check the merchants page just in case.

Standoffs are a great line of decorative and architectural mounting hardware. Victor you may have been thinking of me, we are the Canadian distributors for Standoff Systems. All U.S. orders are filled from the Main office and plant in Reno. They are a great bunch of folks, give them a call.
Cheers,

A cruder but equally effective method is to buy some chrome copper or brushed aluminium tube, wrap it with a little app tape, mark off your lengths and cut them to size with a pair of plumber's tube cutters to use as the stand-off.
Then buy some chrome or satin chrome finish screw head cups and caps available at any hardware (usually used for mounting mirrors) and some long softsheet screws to suit the distance the sign is to be stood proud of the doors.
Stainless steel washers will also provide better support if placed either side of the glass behind the head of the screw.
As I said, cruder than the very attractive fixings on Victor's and Duncan's responses but... (he says putting on the flame-proof suit) not every job requires, or has the budget for the high end gear.
I'm also assuming your sizes were in inches and using 6mm (1/4") glass.
HTH,
David
