Screen printing full color is a totally different animal all unto itself. Properly done color seps should be done by experts. Even I won't try it with all the fancy stuff I've got.

Secondly, you are going to need properly tensioned screens, preferably Newman or Diamond-Chase.

You will also want an automatic press to pull the squeegee. If you try to do it manually, you risk using different pressure on each stroke thereby applying the ink in different densities which will cause color shifts from one print to the next.

Before you attempt doing full color screen printing, I strongly suggest doing a lot of research first.

Check out the following websites.....
www.usscreen.com
www.sgia.org
www.solutionsjournal.com

Then go to www.nbm.com and subscribe to "Screen & Graphic Display" magazine. I believe the subscription is free.

I hope this helps.

Almost forgot....

If you do order color seperations, be sure to ask for a "color key".

You're in for a world of hurt trying to print 4 color process. You're far better off going with a Edge or Summa print, as the up front expense wont come close to the hours and hours of frustration and wasted materials you will waste trying to make it work.

My very first T-shirt screenprinting job was a 4-color process with an extra spot color. Talk about "fools rush in where angels fear to tread" !!! I had never done ANYTHING like that in my life (no printing, nothing) and it had to be done in 2 weeks. I pulled it off, but I've sworn off process work ever since. Not only do I not like the work, but I dont like the look either (personal preference there).

THe keys to process work are TIGHT registration, tight screens, sharp squeegees and good inks.

If you really need screenprints on dboard, I'd farm the job out to a poster printer or print maker. They have the materials and controlled enviroment to do the job easily, and profitably for you!

Cool guys. Thanks. That's 'zackly what I got from the local screenprinters. I thought it'd be cheaper than printing on my roland. Thanks again!
