i think this is a beginner level question.

i just landed a new customer who wants some basic vinyl window lettering (6" high stripes, reverse weeded). I was thinking it would look sharp to add narrow silver stripes above and below (1/4" or 3/8") the color stripe. sort of like this:

so... do i use silver paint on the inside of the glass, or do i need to use silver leaf? (can you get aluminum leaf?) is it tricky to do? anything i should know before i try.

(the customer is a high-end bicycle shop, so i wanted to offer them some nice chrome stripes to sort of go with all the sliver/aluminum/chrome bike parts)

Use aluminum leaf or white gold depending what the budget allows for.Silver leaf will turn black very quickly upon exposure to air. even if you seal it it will turn black around the edges each leaf eventually from the exposure inside the book of leaf.

i'll take these one by one:

timi:
is aluminum leaf easy enough for me to do, and do i put it on the inside or the outside of the glass? can i use 1-shot size or do i have to mix some special concoction while whispering secret words?

steve:
do you mean the bright metalized polyester films? the Calon II says its only a 2-year film for exterior use -- can i install it on the inside of the glass and will it last?

Randy:
i'm working on glass -- are you talking about painting on wheels? sorry, but i'm not sure what you mean by "i just did six sets of chrome mags"
