I have a guy prepared to do some sign sales for me on a commission only basis but i have no idea what the going rate is percentage wise. I would be interested to hear what you think Regards Simon Buckland

Over the years I've seen a range between 10-20%. Mostly 15%. The amount you agree to pay this person can be considered by their job description being one of the factors.
If he talks good about ya...woohoo! Pay him sompn.
If he beings back deposit checks for you, pay him more.
If he can do the paperwork (contracts) and all you have to do is sit back and say, "Wow! that person is a gold mine!" whilst throwing money in the bank hand over fist, then pay him even more.

15% is what the printing industry pays thier sales person. I will give anyone 10% just to send me a customer (after I do the selling and the job) Your BEST salesmen are your former customers,and you don't have to pay them a dime!

You may want to consider a percentage of profit! instead of gross sales..
