Hi Heads,

The Walldog / panel jaming, and first in a series of Walldog meets is coming together! [Smile]

The original Route 66 runs right through this tiny town in Illinois called Atlanta, just south of Bloomington. Each year several car tours run through this town, like Corvette parades, and Old Car Tours, and even a parade of cars coming from France!

They have lots of old buildings just screaming on both sides of the road saying: "letter me!"

Bill Thomas, who manages a business in this tiny town writing internet training manuals for workers of large corporations, has worked very hard to lay ground work for this meet. We have dicussed the possibility of an annual meet for at least two years now. Bill is organizing all the details of the event, so the Letterheads just have to show up and have a great time.

As it stands now, there is no charge to attend this meet. We are going to paint a large wall with a period sign yet done in Letterhead style and we are going to be using Latex paints.

Letterhead Bill Diaz from Pontiac Illinois, who has been profiled in Sign Builder Illustrated is heading up the technical aspects of wall preparations. He is the right Letterhead for the job as his outdoor latex signs and murals have lasted into the 12 year range.

We are not expecting a huge turnout this first year. Next year, we have hopes of a much bigger meet, with a huge wall mural to paint. These meets will continue year after year.

You may remember a Letterhead meet in Bloomington Illinois in 1991 called "Letter Rip" hosted by Bill Diaz, and Mark Mechelian of Prairie Signs (also recently profiled in SBI magazine and has won numerous first place awards in the ISA events) and Dan Kearfoot of Kerfoot Graphics.

The have been invited back to work on this meet and contribute their resources of knowledge to make this a very nice ongoing annual meet.

We plan to have demonstrations, some project and pannel jamming, and a feel good time. I have some demonstrations lined up to give covering the past "step by step" articles I have written for SBI masgazine

Of course, I'll be writing an article about the event for Sign Builder Illustrated, and you can get a FREE copy of SONGPAINTER, Sign Music by Sign People for early registration. [Smile] Kewl Beans!

So if you are within driving distance in the Central USA this meet is for you! [Smile]

We'll try to get Steve and Barb to this meet. It might take some teeth pulling, but we'll try! [Smile]

Details are on the Future Meets Page of this web site.

P.S. ( Duckie is comining ) Yes! The one and only PAT KING (host of the Duck Soup Meet last year).

Utter Duckie:

Dates on the "Future Live Meets" page say the meet will be held July 11,12,13,14.

Thursday is the 11th, probably for morning pow wow to figure out how to proceed, check weather,
set up area for projects, pannel jam, step by steps set up.

Friday and Staturday, have some fun.

Sunday Morning, say goodbye, and breakdown procedures.

The above is a very rough outline. The neat thing is the folks of Atlanta are going to ready most everything with the suggestions we provide to make this event enjoyable.

We have had a couple meetings, one at my shop, and one on location. Our next meeting is at my shop in Bloomington Illinois Sunday May 5th at 2:00pm.

If you have any suggestions of what you really like do at meets, list them here or come to my shop on the date above! [Smile] We want a rich variety of things going on, to get some experience for the next year(s) meet.

Can't wait!

I always thought the "auctioning" of panels,to the townspeople was a nice jesture to both the sign artist and town folk affraid to ask.
This went over well in Vinton Iowa for the ORIGINAL ART WORK of the murals done.
They even ask for MY little ol'panel.
Course I donated the money raised BACK to the city
