I want to be able to send faxes via my DSL connection.

When I had a phone modem, I had some software that would send my quotes and layouts right from the application that I was using. As I remember, there was a printer driver that I could select in the print dialog box.

Anyone using something like this?

Thanks!

You still have to have a fax modem. My system has a DSL network card and a 56k/fax modem in it. If you do it right you can be on the internet and send a fax at the same time with the same dsl line. But you still have to have a fax modem in your computer to "talk" to the fax machine on the other end.

WinFax by Symantec. I use it everyday for business stuff. You can send attachments with it as well. I was just at Staples and saw that it is down to $89.

I take a digital photo of the front of the location, design my sign in Corel draw, copy it into Corel Photo and convert it to a jpg right over the photo of the front to show them exactly what it will look like, and give them a price BUT FOCUS ON WHEN THEY WANT IT DONE!!! Email, Baby!

They almost always try to bust me on the "when" and not the "How Much"! Create urgency and they will buy.

It truly is one of the most effective push email selling tools in my experience, especially if you get it to them pronto. They call for a bid, you get their email and send out the design and quote and the job is paid for just as fast! ...Plus you have their email and store front photo to send them another design three months later! The fax is black and white and you have to hope someone will retreive it for the decision maker.

You'll need a telephone modem, the alternative is to use a net-to-fax service and you pay for them on a subscription basis.
If you use email, try .pdf format. I usually cut & paste the design onto my letterhead along with quote and use acrobat to create a pdf. Looks very professional, makes small email and print files, is not editable by the client, and looks exactly as it should no matter what printer the client uses, or what fonts he has installed.

Thanks for the responses folks...I learned a few things.

I do email quotes all of the time; some folks don't have access to the net. Also, I edit a small newsletter and I have to fax the finished copy to my asst. for a final proof-read since she is not connected. So I have to print up 10-12 pages a month so I can fax 'em to her.

Kim... thanks for the tip on WinFax Pro. I checked my old software and I was using FaxWorks Pro. I still have the old disks, so I'll try to reinstall this week.

Mike...I'd like to see what your letterhead looks like...?

Thanks, again.
