Here is what the F-keys do in CorelDraw. I got the info from the Help section.

F1 Accessing Help

F6 Assigning & deleting keyboard shortcuts (If someone knows how to do this, please resond)

F8 Restoring factory defaults (hold the F8 key whlie starting Corel) Courtesy Glenn Taylor

F9 Full screen preview

F11 Choosing a color from a color palette

Evidently, some are open so you can assign your own shortcuts. If you print a small guide and stick it above the F keys you can speed up your design process.

Also, the Help section is full of a wealth of information.

I particularly like F3, which is zoom out. I use it constantly.

In Corel 9 and 10, if you go to the Options menu in the Tools pulldown, you can customize all your shortcut keys. I have made all my keys to function like Signlab. It makes working between the two programs so much faster when you don't have to remember F6 zoom out in signlab and F3 in Corel. Make them both the same!!!

I’m a hot key fanatic. I have Inspire’s hot keys configured the same as Corel’s.

I really like customized Hot Keys within programs as well. I find the mouse a terribly inefficient device and prefer to use the keyboard were applicable. I go one step farther and have utilized Workspaces in CorelDRAW to define different Hot Key/Menu/Palette and other settings to simulate Gerber, Sign Lab, Macromedia, and Adobe settings in addition to Corel defaults. I even have Workspaces set up for specific tasks. I love working the way I want to, the person making a living using the software, as opposed to the way the software architect, the person who is making a living writing the software, thinks I should.

Gail,

It makes support a bit more challenging as well. Plus, when training someone on there systems within the same software using “default” settings; it makes one look a tad incompetent at first.
