Hummingbirds are fascinating critters. They keep getting in my new shop via the big rolldoor and flying around the ceiling trying to escape through the skylites....they won't look down. Four of them now and counting. The first one I caught with a net on a pole. Somehow I stunned him and thought he was dead but in a little while he started to recover, I released him and he buzzed away. The next one, my Mom suggested putting my 8' stepladder in front of the rolldoor with something red on it (they're attracted to red you know)and it worked. Less than 30 seconds later he zipped through the door. The third one, I set a red toolbox about 4' from the floor, went back later and that bird was gone as well. Thursday, I had to leave the shop for an appointment. I went out to the woodworking shop to close up and there was another buzzing around at the skylites. I hated to, but just had to leave him. Came in yesterday and he was lying on the floor dead. I believe their metabolism is so rapid that they just burn themselves out. I'm gonna try hanging something permanently in the doorway or keep feeders in the shop.
I also have a red "no smoking" symbol on my glass office door. They come to it constantly. I guess that I need to put out some feeders there too.
Show us a pic of the sculpture!

Woo Hoo Fiddles! YOU ROCK! But seriously, folks, the sculpture was butt-ugly, I'm talkin' cow-kicked ugly. The only thing nice about it was Faye's artwork. I thought the client was gonna wet his haggars. He promised a pic, and when he does, I'll post it. Thanks, sis. Love- JILL
