Hi Letterpeople. I have to make an 8' x 6' sign & I was wondering, if you had the choice, would you make it out of plywood or sticking 12" pine boards together?
If you picked pine, what method would you use?
Sorry about the kindergarten questions but I've never made one before! Thanks always, Felix.

What kinda sign are you making? Will it be carved?....Plywood...Nope. Do you just want a substraight for a painted and/or stickered sign? One justs needs to ask. Joe, Makin Chips and Havin Fun!

Thanks guys. You know, I asked a do it yourself friend of mine & he said he coated his 4'x5' plywood sign with west systems epoxy (probably would have been cheaper to use PVC, IMO).
Thanks always!

If this sign is going outside it won't last six months. You can't compare these two substates at all.The grain in pine is way to wide and will split in no time.Plywood is a much better bet if it's prepped properly and in the long run a lot cheaper.
