Just to clarify what I am interested in, I am interestin in a software package that just converts a logo into a file for production, If that is 5-6 thousand then forget it, but I bet there is a program thit will do it for a lot less.
Thanks

There was a lot of this at the B.I.G. Show in Orlando last July. If you go here http://lexx.nbm.com/bigshow/ and then click one of the show locations on the left you can find a list of the exhibitors and there were several embroidery software places listed.
I tried to give you the direct link but it wouldn't work. I've been wanting to do this as well just so I could take the digitized file to have my own shirts made the way I wanted! Have fun!

I did some logo work for a local car club a couple years ago and one of the guys said his mother had an embroidery machine and she used CorelDRAW.. he only brought that up because he saw me using it and thought it was interesting that two completely different professions could use the same software. He didnt say whether or not CorelDRAW could actually drive the embroidery machine, he didnt seem to have much more info than the fact that his mother uses CorelDRAW for design.

My sister inlaw used to work for a large embroidery company and she worked as a digitizer. She worked with some realy high end embriodery programs. From what I could figure out when I talked to her about this she said their is a lot more involve to just converting a vector graphic into something an embriodery machine can handle. The amount of stickes in a certain area the type of stitch etc. That is why you pay so much to get your design digitized for embroidery.

I have dabbled with a program called Intelistich. I don't know the cost, but you can import .bmp files and the program converts to a "digitized format". It works pretty well with basic designs, anything complicated and we send it off to be digitized professionally. If you look in the back of Impressions and such mags you will find lots of companies that specialize in that.
