Haven't seen much of Glenn Taylor either lately. I miss his funny little tidbits of news. Hope he hasn't cracked a darky!!

Been busy Glenn?, "cracked a darky" is another term for spat the dummy. Dog's Life reminds me of my wife. Glad she doesn't read these posts.

Yep, I've been swamped. Business had been slow in January and February. Then along came March and we got slammed. Its like everyone decided to gang up on us and come in at one time.
Then I got a chance to attend the ISA show in Orlando when Gerber asked me to work their booth as their guest. But, that's another story.

Good site Doug! Aussies speak with a different accent to NZ's and I remember reading a story about this fact. In NZ they don't pronounce six as six, their twang makes it sound like sex or sux. Anyway as the story goes some NZ vandal painted a wall in Sydney saying "australia sux". And underneath it some aussie wag had written "new Zealand nil". There are too many sheep jokes about NZ's to even start on that one.

Hey David we have the same sheep jokes here except they refer to Wales (the country not the large air breathing underwater living mammals Whales) "where men are men and sheep are nervous"

Guess I just realized why I became a part-time "Lurker" instead of a full time participant over the past year or so. I do miss Mark Fair, Matt Broadus, John Deaton, Terry Teague, BroFrog, Dave Grundy, Mike Meyer, Samazon & Tbuk, who I was finally beggining to understand.
Plus there are alot of people, who do not post as often...Nettie, Donna, & Joey Madden come to mind.
Then there are some who are missing who I don't miss at all, but I'll keep those names to myself.
John

Hi Heads- I think Letterville resembles real life. We get busy living it & forget to check in with old friends. Sometimes someone will say something that makes us feel stupid, even if they are correct. So we pout for awhile. Other times, we just get sick of the same old faces, so we keep our own hidden. Sometimes we don't have questions about our work, which means we are actually getting the hang of things. But mostly like me, I can never think of anything intelligent to post, so I lurk. Kinda like in High School... Love- JILL

C.J., I wanted to post a note about the folks that dropped off line and Mark was the first name that came to mind. Of which, it was very rude of me to single him out. I have since apollogized emphatically to him privately and changed the post to include all the ones that used to be very active here and provide a great deal of constructive input to the board. Like John Novicki said, there are lots of names we don't see much of anymore. Dave Grundy is another that comes to mind. As I said, their wit and wisdom is sorely missed. I, for one, have learned a lot here simply watching the diverse answers to questions. Skill comes from practice, wisdom comes from watching and keeping your trap shut.
I want to be a skilled and wise old man

What I meant was that you were missed too! Guess I should have phrased it differently!!!
BTW, "Old-timers" as far as Letterheads are concerned to me means the really talented ones of the bunch!

I guess I am an old guy. Been around here a while with my spin on hand lettering and window splashes. I hope all is well for everyone. My window splash business is surprisingly up 48% for the YTD! I have been very busy with trying to get the gallery in Santa Fe going and have been down there four times so far for the year, but between trips, business has been smokin. Lots of car dogs wanting changes. I raised my prices a bit and freaked out a bit more than normal about making the taxes (WHEW!..even funded the SEP on time), so I was humping to please. Business is swell. Best ever first four month run.
I have also been painting up a storm with my oils, in preparation for the gallery. Go to my art site and give me your harshest criticism! No one ever complained enough for me to stop yet! On the personality page shows some of my windows and click thru the boat at the bottom there to see the Bird towing the Floater. Miss you all! Letterville really is the greatest site I have ever seen! www.prestonmccall.com

John, I suppose it's some kind of natural ebb and flow. Just as some of the "old-timers" seemed to have stopped posting, a lot of new names and faces started popping up in Letterville. I welcome the newbies, but like you, miss the wisdom of the old gang. (remember Ricky Jackson's long and hilarious replies? Where's he now?) Anyway, for better or worse, I'm here for the duration. Hope the rest of you stick around too - this is a great place.

Where have all the Oldtimers gone? That's a question I hear being asked all the time at live meets, as well as here in Letterville. We all miss their input and participation, but other than calling them up personally and urging them to get reinvolved, their is really little we can do.
There is lots of good news! The number of live meets each year continues to grow. A whole new generation of signmakers are showing up at meets and here on the BB. Like us oldtimers, they are interested in learning and preserving the best of our industries history, as well as learning today's new technologies.
I've always compared The Letterhead Movement to a fire. In order to burn hot, it needs to be fed fuel. New people are the wood that makes the Letterhead fire burn. Their excitement is contagious. When we share our secrets with those that truely seek knowledge, oldtimers often find their own passion being rekindled.
The door is always open here in Letterville. Phone, e-mail or contact your favorites anyway you wish and let them know thet are missed. Urge them to get off their rockers and attend this Summer's Big Letterhead Meet In Mars. That's really all any of us can do.
