Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It makes me feel much more normal about our planned railroad which will go around our yard. The monorail pictured is a marvelous piece of low budget engineering.
Our Giggle Ridge Railroad will be a little larger scale than the line pictured in the web page you marked here. We plan on a capacity of 24+ passengers per circuit on our line. I suspect we will have much larger construction costs... but then again ours will be a revenue line. And the revenue should pay for our entire mortgage (on the house, railway, and property) too.

Last winter, when work was slow, the guys at the shop and I spent a few days cutting up a bunch of old bicycles, and we eventually came up with a three-wheeled contraption powered by a weed-eater motor, which we raced down the street in front of the shop at the amazing speed of 17mph. Our boss thought we were crazy. I'm going to show him some of these monorail pics, so he can see what happens when people REALLY get bored!!!!!!

Dan, you shouldn't worry about not being normal, normal is boring.
Maybe once you get GiggleRidge done, you'll build FutureTown and then you can use a monorail there.
I attempted building some small magnetic levitation trains when I was younger, but at 12 years old I just didnt have the knowledge to build a speed controller that worked right. All my test cars ended up on the floor in pieces. Now I have 40 acres of land in the desert (about an hour from where I live) and pretty much free roam to do whatever I please.. Hmmmmmmmm....
