Well Today is Friday and off we go again, This will be the final step in yet another hand lettering job at Fenway park
As many of you know Cam & I lettered the area around home plate in Fenway park in Boston last year for thier 100th anniversary. of the Boston Red Sox. This year we got called to come back and letter the same area for the 90th anniversary of the Fenway Park.
Today we will be coating this entire area in Pelucid, for durability this ought to be a good test for pelucid.
Well see how well Pelucid holds up to running around, kicking spitting generaly getting purely abused by 200lb guys.
BTW, we did NOT letter the area that says "Opening Day 2002". That was done by the grounds crew, directly on the grass.

Well, no wonder you're not answering your phone! Lookin' great, Bob and Cam. What a cool gig. Can't wait to see it "live" when I join the masses at "Friendly Fenway" later this summer.

Nice job! Glad there are still kids like you guys that enjoy crawling around all day and can still get up and walk without aching. I'm curious to find out how many gallons of "Pierre Juice" it'll take to cover that twice? Will you spray it or roll it? I'd spray. I've found that stuff to loosen 1-Shot red after over a week of the red curing. Pinky roller blotches in the background were not very becoming. Keep having fun.

Bob...there seems to be a flaw in your project. It is not creating the desired effect. The Red Sox lost their home opener and the second home game got rained out! You may of jinxed them for this season.
Nice job...hope they have you back every year.

Chuck, you obviously wrote that BEFORE Derek Lowe flirted with a no-hitter yesterday, and they won today as well.
This job gave us a glimpse at the logistics of operating and maintaining a major-league ballpark. There were dozens of painters working all over the park, guys hosing down the stands, the grounds crew at work fertilizing and pesticizing and mowing and so forth. I told our employees to treat this place like it was God's own front lawn - no open paint containers anywhere near the grass, watch out for paint on their shoes, etc.
One thing we saw was how unintended consequences work out... the new owners had two more rows of seats installed on the first and third base lines, which actually put the fans in those seats (at $200 a ticket)even closer to the baselines than the dugouts. This however caused a sight-line problem for the TV cameras that operate from the dugouts, so the camera pit was moved forward about six feet... which caused a problem for the players by obscuring the view from the dugouts to home plate. And when major league ballplayers complain, people listen... so crews were working to re-align the camera pits to solve that problem. That and other maintenance issues that apparently had not been addressed in the last few years of the old ownership. Imagine owning a historic, ninety-year old building where 35,000 people show up to sit, stand, cheer, boo, yell, stomp their feet, eat, drink, and use the toilets for 85 days a year between April and October.
To baseball fans, especially in New England, Fenway is a shrine. To the people who have to clean and maintain it, it has to be a major-league headache. Getting inside for a few days and watching what goes on between games is a real eye-opener.
