I've been using one I created with FormTool by IMSI. It worked good but had a lousy search feature for digging up old invoices so I've been looking for a better alternative.

I got Quicken for Home and Business 2002, but their designing capability is rudimentary at best,
do-able but plain. It got screwed up somehow and I cannot print any invoices with it now. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and can get it to print...until I restore my invoices. Their print driver is goofy anyway, not allowing you to print more than one copy at a time, again, do-able but that's when it works. What if you had a years worth of invoices and this happened ?

Anybody using an invoicing program that lets you custom design and with good search functions ?
I tried three or four others and can't believe this is such a big issue. Suggestions ?

QuickBooks Pro 2002 has some great features. Invoicing is just the beginning.

QB keeps getting better (and more expensive) but IMHO it is worth every penny. Does your federal quarterly tax forms, figures your sales tax, search by almost anything imaginable.

And if you're into Estimate software it syncs with this too.

I know Quickbooks Pro is much better then Quicken. I never used Quicken though, so I don't know where the difference lies. I have used QB Pro for 6 years & I love it. Like all my software it does way more then I will ever figure out. It does do what I want, & there is some amount of customizing control. I buy compatible 2 part forms from NEBS. Then I can choose what fields I want to use & what to use them for. I can also set up other templates for other purposes & switch to them when needed. I find the ability to bring up various reports, lists, & accounts by customer, or by year, quarter, or any specified time period has allowed me to always find what I'm looking for. What could be the best feature (but I'm not sure about this) is if you have a lot of relevantr information in Quicken it may transfer over like an upgrade since it is also an Intuit product.

you people with quickbooks pro....must have stocks/bonds/ portfoilios, rentals, 10 bank accounts, 37 employees and 15 vehicles and 5 of them are leased....QB PRO is great if you have all of the above. you wana write invoices, keep track of 3-4 different checkin accounts, write checks or not, keep track of customers ..get QUICKEN HOME & SMALL BUSINESS, cost way less then QP PRO and will do anything us little guys need. you can d/l a demo from their web site...jim you need to uninstall your present copy, go to regedit and find and delete all files that relate to QUICKEN, do a defrag, shut it down reboot and reinstall...mine has worked perfect and i can print invoices back to back and then close the program..and they still will print...

No employees, no stocks, no bonds. 1 bank account & 1 vehicle & 1 accounting program. Maybe Quicken would do enough for me but I don't need to know that 'cause I got QB Pro already. The difference in price I could have made twice over in the time I spent posting on this BB already tonight.

The main thing is Quicken is not seeming to meet Jim's needs. Maybe OP's help will get it printing but after that, it's still Quicken.

Joe, that won't help. I had gone through the registry and deleted all references to Quicken.
The problem seems to be that the database file is corrupted. I've done nothing to corrupt it, didn't lockup the computer...nothing.

I left the best part out. I called Quicken and they wanted to charge me for their time. I told them if they found someone foolish enough to pay for beta testing their program, go for it.
