I had trouble with IIMAK Duracoat ribbons breaking. I've been using Cutting Edge Graphix ribbons. http://www.cuttingedgegraphix.com/index.html Cutting edge has the best price and so far, I've had no problems with them breaking or poor print quality.
From the post's I've read here and from other boards, I get the impression that none of these printers are the same. Some print well with one brand of ribbon and others don't. I'm sure there are many variables that effect print quality other than just the printer. I tend to buy small quantities of anything new to the printer until the product proves its self.

I have a pc-60. I've been using Zeronine ribbons with pretty good luck. Once in a while a color will track wrong out of the cartridge... leaving a VERY distinct banding mark. The problem is solved by reloading the ribbon, using the ribbon in another cartridge or installing a new ribbon. It stinks when you find that you are halfway through a job and this is happening.

I could not get zero nine to work in my pc 600. they streaked badly, but as soon as I put a rolland cartridge back in, it prints fine. Distributor hasnt been able to figure it out - but thought maybe newer 600 had different print head temps --
