I have a client who brought in a disk with a version 9 AI file.

I tried to import it through Corel 4 & 9 and also SignLab, but I get file errors.

Can someone open, then save as an earlier version for me?

Thanks ahead of time.

I have been wrestling with AI9 files for a couple of months. It seems that 9 files are using .pdf architecture as opposed to earlier versions that were based on .eps structure. I have found that I can open these files ONLY in AI9 then export to a lower version like 5.5, and my other programs can import it then.

Also noticing that Corel10 files are being stubborn. Even when a 10 file is exported as a .ai it is not wanting to open in anything but Corel10.

Just some observations, If I can help open anything, just let me know.

I just sent a broshure to the printers. Used Corel 10, chose the "save as" option. Then selected "Illustrator 7" as the version and text as curves. Opens up fine in Illustrator 9 and fine in Corel 10 as well.
