Hey, I just saw the news about the algae that seems to be making the loggerhead turtles sick in the area of the Gulf right above the Florida Keys. I used to live down there, and my dad was a resident for 32 years. I see it is right above Marathon. Do you have any idea? They say it may just be the tip of the iceburg. They suspect many more turtles to be dead below the surface and other marine life to be threatened.

Hey Deb I hope your wrong - I saw the "Big Black Blob" on the 'net just now - I hope it doesn't threaten any marine life - specially the turtles - I swam with my first marine turtle just last fall - - -scuba diving out of Destin, Florida.....they are beautiful animals & they deserve protecting........just my thoughts, Sincerely, Carl

I'm not really sure what that could be Deb...

But it seems to coincide with Steve's visit to Netties. Sometimes he doesn't get to take regular showers.

Coincidence - I think not! [Wink]

Though I hate to see any marine animals die (except jellyfish!), I think we have to accept these things as part of the normal cycle of the natural world. About fifteen years ago I lived on the Chesapeke Bay, in Norfolk, Va, and one summer there was an epidemic of dolphins dying. I don't recall that they ever found a reason for it, but at least a couple of hundred dolphins died up and down the coast that summer.

Not that one Pierre! Lots of strange sightings down there! I say, long live the turtles, and of course we can't forget my other love, the manatees! (no kidding, the animal kind ).
