Hey, for those of you wanting to save a few bucks at the Ireland meet...there is an alternative to high priced hotels......

http://www.irelandyha.org/accommodation_kilkenny_foulksrath.html

I plan on staying at hostels while on the east coast next month....average price is 12-19 bucks a night, and many have kitchens where you can cook your own meals...most have private rooms for a few dollars more for couples.

For more info on becoming a member ($25 a year) go to:

Adriene,
Is this just a Youth Hostel or all ages allowed. Just wondering since Roger and I am going to try and may the Kilkenny Meet next year.

Addrienne ...for another 5 bucks you can have one of the most lovely B&B's that Ireland has to offer, where all your personal effects are safe the people are really friendly the rooms are supperb and there's a meal awaiting you in the morning served with a smile.

Ireland has a B&B system like none other and they all belong to a licensing authority, they really are "the only way to fly".

We've seen the Hostels and frankly they leave a bit to be desired.

Youth is only a term from when they were first started to accomodate young people anD students traveling abroad, There is no age limit.

This one is a member of the International Hosteling Association, to be a member you have to meet certain standards of cleanliness, safety, comfort, etc. And this one has also earned a listing in the ''Let's Go guide'

I've heard of other ( non-hiayh) hostels that don't meet those standards and I wouldn't suggest it.

If Monte is correct, [Smile] then I'll concider a B&B most definatly...I have stayed in B&Bs in England and Scotland and they were really nice.

But...a 15th century castle??? COOOOOOL!! [Cool]
