We are renting a house for now... until the time is right for the next phase of our project which will include a new house and studio. The rental house is nice... smaller than we are used to but ok for the duration.
I've had my studio down in the basement. The trouble is there were no windows down there. I thought I could handle it but I like the light. After a year it finally got the best of me.
So we've juggled the furniture around and made room for my desk and book shelves upstairs. The studio is now where the dining room used to be. My new office looks out through the big glass doors and a second large window.
I can see the large cedar trees as the wind blows through the branches. I can tell the lawn needs mowing. The sky is blue and the sun shines.
I've escaped from the dungeon!

In our last house, the only windows my office had were those basement type that you needed a chair to stand on in order to see through them. Three to be exact. Make it 2 1/2... the dog pen took up one and all that was ever on that window were muddy dog prints. Had I stayed in that office longer, I had plans to create a doggie drive through on the wall around the window for some office umph.
When we moved to our current home, I had plans for the upstairs of the garage the moment we saw it while it was an official hayloft at the time. When construction began, some of you may recall the hoops I had to jump through to get my dream windows. The builder wanted to put in standard type and only what was necessary. I wanted them to start at desk height and go from there. And lots of them.
You don't really even require a light on in my current shop, it's so bright. I too need sun and light. If I had more bucks, I'd have added my own veranda/balcony with double french doors as well, overlooking the country view. (my husband thought that dream was abit odd for a working environment, like maybe I wouldn't bother working as much)
Congrats to be among the living again Dan. Just one question... did you move the dining room into the dungeon? What fun you could have with a Dan Sawatkzy themed decor for that!
