It's been a while since I have done a sandblasted sign (4 years) however, I am SURE it's like ridin' a bike. Although it's been 4 years since I've made them (for my employer), I have never quoted one (for my own business). I understand that most sandblasted redwood/cedar are on a per sq. ft. price. If that is the case, what is your going rate?
I am to work out a separate price for delivery (5 hour drive) and install/with posts but, for now am concerned that I don't get burned (or overcharge-yeh right).
4 years ago- I was in California working with redwood and for an employer, now I am on my own (that's where you come in) and am in Canada working with cedar.
4 years ago, it was $75 sq. ft. I am under the impression it is somewhere between $75- $125 sq. ft. now. Am I in the ballpark??? Does that seem too low or too high.
The sign will be approx. 2" X 4' x 12'........I'm thinkin' $4800.00 for the wood, glueing, plaining, blasting, painting etc. Any comments???????

Corey I don't think there is anything wrong with the price but what will the market take. How many shops in your area do blasting and why did these people call someone 5 hours away?????

ya caught me. My uncle in law, (don't jump to conclusions) is affiliated with other people in need of this sign. I have done signs for his business for a few years now. He has told me that other shops (in the actual area of this project) will be bidding on all the other signs (as well as I) but, he wants me to do the main entrance sign. He will not be quoting this out with other shops....aren't I lucky???

Corey, I believe the price here in the US is averagely about 70-75 bucks a sq. foot plus unusually embellishments like gold or many paint tones., etc. Just use the canadian exchange rate to get to a Canadian price.

Local market conditions are all that really matter. Your challenge is to understand what pricing the local market will bear.
Are there other sign shops in the area who can provide a similar product and comparable service to yours? What are they charging? What value can you add and will the customer pay more for it?
There's admittedly more work involved in anwsering these questions than there is in simply taking the suggestions offered here and running with them...but relying on pricing from elsewhere risks that you will either undersell your hard work or overprice and lose the job.
The huge difference between what Bronzeo (above) and Steve (below) can charge does a good job of illustrating my point.
Good luck!
