Hello Letterheads, it has been awhile since I have posted. Straight to the problem. We just cut 125 3"x3" logos from thermo film. We used 200+ grams of force to cut this material.... like normal. Then switched back to vinyl, changed the gf to 120. This is the setting we cut vinyl at. OK, the blade doesn't come down to the vinyl, even when performing the test cut. If you increase the gf, the blade does get lower and does scratch the surface of the vinyl. I called Roland, they said if the selenoid isn't raising the knife up after the cut attemps then the selenoid is the problem. I wanted to order it, they told me I had to send the maching in to Chicago Ill. for servicing. They don't know how long the turn-around time will be.
I am looking for any direction you can offer. I may have to purchase another machine or maybe lease one. Does anyone have a roland, or any plotter that will cut from Corel for sale, or a PNC for parts?
Wow... sorry for the long winded post. Thank you for your time.

Brian

ITS BROKE...box it up and send it to me....ill pay the freight.heheheh from the sound of it you need to tighten the hand nut that holds the blade holder in place....and make sure the blade holder is all the way into its seat.....if its trashed ill take it.....heheheh got a pnc-1000 and a pnc-1100 both work great.....

Joe,

The thumb screw is tight, the selenoid isn't raising or lowering the entire holder right. Roland said it is the selenoid, and maybe the main board also. That sound expensive.

Thanks!

If you gotta have the solenoid and mainboard replaced you may as well pick up a new plotter cause it's not even worth fixing if you can get a new plotter for twice what the repair will cost.

On the otherhand, have you tried unplugging the plotter from the wall for a while? It could just be the "computer" in the plotter stuck in a loop and needing a good reset. I dont know if this will work or not but it's worth a shot and it's free. [Smile] It works for our desktop computers. [Smile] When I worked at a VCR repair shop, alot of VCR's came in with supposed problems but never exhibited them for us to see. They got reset just from pulling the plug and after that they worked without any problems.
