I have been very involved with opening an art gallery in Santa Fe. Put together the cash, corporation, director, most of the other details except a solid connection on a space. I missed out on one right off the Plaza to another faster group and bid another on up thru the roof ($10,800 per month rent!) and lost it to some jewelry store chain who offered them an eight year lease. Now I am sitting on the fence waiting for another realtor to tell me this week if the third space is mine. Great location and a beautiful space.
Santa Fe is limited in the great spaces available, obviously. It has been a real education getting just this far, however I am getting there.
I am getting close to this deal and it could come down tomorrow. I will have to go be there for a few months and will move away from my spash art business I have built up over the past twelve years doing the 175 or so new car stores in Kansas and Missouri. I will miss the signs, but really do love the fine art painting more. www.prestonmccall.com
The gallery name will be "Paxton & McCall Fine Art" I am thinking about some long gluechip/goldleaf glass signs to mount along the bottom of the display windows like I remember seeing in an old jewelry store in Lawrence, Kansas, years ago. I would be very interested in any ideas anyone may have about these and if anyone would care to possibly make them for me? I do some leaf work, but really need these to look like someone knows the medium well. Email me with some ideas and I will definitely respond. prestonmccall@kc.rr.com
