I've used an old sheet and plastic dropclothe in the past. Right now, I'm doing a 3 x 8 poly banner, and I just placed it over the printer/cutter before I got started and it fit real well. Price is right.

Just made a dust cover for my new laser printer from an old clear shower curtain and a little clear packing tape- works great and it was free! I should make one for my cutter too, probably use a clear dropcloth- can get those cheap at your local hardware store.
