I've got a window painting job for 4 banks in three cities through an ad agency I quoted the windows and now they want a price for travel.
the price guide quotes 1.29 per mile but that seems a little high.
roseburg is 70 miles one way and medford is 30 miles the other way. what do you charge?

thanks
jon

We also charge our shop rate for "Travel Time" @ $65.00/hr. Mileage sucks esp i fyou live in the city and the traffic takes you 40 mins to go 5 miles!

Glen no wonder you are always in here. At $68.00/hr I could take some time off too! [Razz] [Razz] [Smile] [Smile]

I would charge the shop rate for travel. If it takes you an hour to get there thats an hour you could be into a job already. Did that make any sense?

Everybody's right on here. Remember, your hourly rate covers your overhead and your shop's burning money every day whether you're there or not!

Hi Jon ...Jon here:)

Hourly shop rate is the only way to go. Your vehicle costs should be covered in your overhaeds in that rate. In the big city sometimes I have sat in traffic for 2 hours going two miles ... what computes [Smile]

I honestly can see the travelling time adding up in the real world but if Jon could pull this off in southern Oregon it would certainly be a milestone.
Working from Grants Pass is entirely different from the rest of the free world and believe me as I've been through most other cities, towns and states.

Joey,
that may be true for the little microcosm we call home but remember this for an ad agency and three of the locations are outside of that.

Ian,
I'll remember those additional charges when they tell me they need it done for monday morn.

Thanks Jon
